I got a 93 se 240sx and I’m pretty sure the interior is done in tweed on the seats, doors and the glove box. And this crap is freaking uncomfortable epically on the door panels when I put my elbows on it.

Is this tweed material? And if I bought some new tweed from say specialproducts.com would this bee the same crap. They got photos but not much info about what it would feel like. I’m hoping some of you might have experience with reupholstering and know of some place or material that would be more comfortable and look nice.

I'd say get a nice vinyl and some good spray adhesive and go to work. A few folks around here reupholstered their glove boxes, do a quick search.

I'm personally thinking of just getting some black vinyl to match the rest of the dash and trim and then covering door panels and the glove box.

You would have to remove the awful tweed and then sand the surface of the door/glove box. After that, I'd imagine you can cut your material and then slowly start sticking it on. I've heard the little latch on the glove box can be a bit tricky.

I'm in the process of redoing mine, and i'm just eliminating the dip below the glove box handle....making it all sit flush with the handle

select products is very very expensive but theres not too many places that have the variety of vinyls and tweeds like they do. I'd try checking around the net to see if you can find some better prices. almost all tweeds have that semi rough feeling to them. Had a friend who did the entire interior of his gmc jimmy in a tan tweed. He simply sprayed on some heavy duty spray adhesive, then started from the center and worked his way outward. I've wrapped pieces in vinyl and its not hard at all just make sure you have a hair dryer or heat gun, and make sure there isn't a tough backing to it(won't stretch near as well for you)

Buy a dash repair kit, but make sure you are meticulous when you repair it, because they can come out horribly if done sloppily.

Ironically my dash is cracking and that's what inspired this project. I’ve got to crack that go from the windows to the top of the gauges on the top of the dash. I looked at some of the vinyl repair kits and they have just little patches of vinyl. So I was like I could just spend around 100 bucks and redo the dash since I’m repainting the trim anyways might as well go for so color inside my bland grey/black interior I got now. I found an auto upholstery shop in town but they were closed by the time I found them. I need my gps now!! Damn u ups your too slow
