Alrighty,

Well, I just bought my 240 about a week ago, and I'm itching for more power (I came from DSM land, 1 fwd turbo, 2 awd turbos), and I'm ready to turbo the KA, (I won't explain why its this as uppose to the swap, .4 liters = more torque). So I have a few questions, for those who can answer, please do, this is just the route that I am going, so hopefully, It will work out.

First things first, the manifold and turbo, I still have a DSM lying around that I am parting out. well, using the parts for the turbo project actually. Before it died, I was making about 260 at the crank, but I wasn't giving it enough fuel. So I'm trying to figure out what I can swap to the KA to save myself some dough.

Alot of honda guys use the Mitsubishi manifold to turbo thier cars, I wonder if it would fit on the KA, I just have a problem spending $700 on a manifold, I mean honestly its not a golden manifold. I guess if all else fails I'll hack together a junked KA, and the dsm mani.

Second thing is the injectors, I've got some 420's that I'm hoping I can make fit, then the intercooler (side mount, which I know I can make fit) and of course the turbo, Mitsu - 14b, not too big, but spools quick as nuts and should make for a fun streetable car.

I'm gonna purchas a 255 fuel pump, and custom make the pipes, with the stuff from the DSM (downpipe, exhaust ect.) also, a SAFC II and a manual boost controler.

If any one has any advise, or cautions let me know, as far as tuning, its not that hard, the turbo maxes out at about 280 hp (crank) and I can get it enough fuel with the pump and injectors. I'm hoping for a respectable 230ish at the wheels.

you will probably need a mass air flow sensor upgrade to run that much power, and I'd probably start thinking about an MSD timing retard (BTM) to retard timing under boost. As for the manifold, try all sorts of stuff, you never know when you will find something that work. But I believe I read a thread before about someone trying the mitsu manifold. Just keep in mind you can buy an SR one off ebay and weld a new flange on it (jgstools.com has flanges for turbos, the manifold flange, and log style kits that are priced ok, thats what most of the ka t guys I know use).

Anyway I guess thats all I can think of.

grab an extra ka exhuast manifold or a one peice gasket (i got a one peice with my hotshot header) then line it up with you dsm mani or other ones you can find. the stock dsm turbo has been used on a ka with the results you are looking for. if you will be using such a small turbo be sure to get a VERY efficent intercooler.

the stock maf will support close to 250rwhp. those injectors wont work since they are top feed and i also think the impedence is wrong. sr 370s's will work just fine.

like andrave said you can use the sr mani reflanged. that same company though is coming out with one made for the ka soon. i know who already ordered it but the shipment hasnt come in yet.

So can fit stock sr20 injectors on the Ka? How about after market? if I'm going to buy them I might as well buy something a little bigger.-Brandon

all sr injectors will fit into the ka rail. i have used the 370's and now im using the s15 480cc sr injectors. there are also plenty of aftermarket sidefeed 550, 555, 660, 720,740 plus the tops feeds you can use with a top feed rail

im running the 480's at 13psi on my kat

mustang GT 4.6 fuel rail works good for top feeds if you aren't afraid of making your own brackets and stuff. Which I'd guess you aren't.

yeah, anyone know where to get some good cheap injectors, honestly I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible, just because. The only thing I really wanted to buy was the SAFC II and the fuel pump, how much am I looking at for injectors...I'm hoping I can pick them up for under 300, but I dunno, you guys tell me.

also the one piece gasket. How on earth would that work? I mean, if it will bolt up then any gasket should work right? (or even a sheet of gasket material from pepboys.)? let me know.

he meant you can use the gasket to walk around the junkyard with, to see what lines up with it. Anyway for injectors, I used brand new flow matched delphis and they were 220 shipped, cheap for 50 lb injectors. You can use rx7 side feeds with some modifications. And they are real cheap.

As for the oil lines, tee the return off the stock oil sender, you will need a bspt male/female/female tee and a bspt - 30 degree 1/4 (4 an) adaptor.mcmaster has all the parts you'll need to make that. for the return line, drill as high up on the pan as you can get. You can buy bungs off mcmaster too.
