I just finished putting the car back together after Installing the GT28RS Disco Potato turbo, and of course I have some kind of issue. If I go anything over 4 to 5 PSI the car "kills" it self. It feels like the ECU just shuts it down. I'm guessing I either don't have enough fuel, or Air. So I'm going to get the 550 Injecters, Z32 MAF and ECU Tuned. Should this help my problem?

That doesn't make sense... unless your putting out 250hp at 4psi

Yeah, It didn't make sense to me, so I'm at a lost. Anybody have an idea? I forgot to mention, if I lightly feather the gas, I can climb as high up in the revs I want too. It's just I can't boost or the fuel or something cuts out. I don't want to damage my motor, so I'm not going to drive it until I figure this out.

Agreed, My best idea would be that the ECU is freaking out because of the change that has been made with the turbo. Since your pushing more air faster the ECU is having a hard time coping with it. Since they aren't being nice to eachother the ECU is saying "HAHAHHA NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!" Pretty much if your still on the T25 program the ECU is going to look at that really nice turbo and say "what the hell are you and how come you want all this stuff?". I would start with the upgrades your talking about and I think that your problem will be resolved.

What kind of injectors are they? Were you running the injectors prior to nw turbo setup? You got any kind of management for fuel? safc?

I have the stock Injectors and No fuel management. The only reason I upgraded the turbo so soon was the seal on my T25 was already blown.

I thought you had the Z32 MAF installed...Your goign to need something to control your injectors and maf signal.SAFC II would work or did you say you were getting your ecu tuned for them?

Could be a boost leak and so it dumping in all that fuel but not seeing the air! You can put that turbo on and run 10-12 psi and your car will run fine! Go for a drive and when the car dies pull over and look at the spark plugs, if its bad enough to kill the car you are either getting way too much gas because of a boost leak, or your fuel pump is cutting out and giving you no fuel. You should fix this problem before doing anything else, a tuned rom won't fis the problem. Can you drive it through all the rpm's under no boost conditions! I say check for leaks first, it will have to be a big one to cause it to run that bad, if that isn't the cause check the fuel pump and the MAF. Good luck!-Jason-

Yes, I can drive through all the revs under no boost, and I checked everywhere for a leak and could not find one. I do have a slight exhaust leak, but not horrible. I drove the car to Japan Direct (where I got the motor). and let my buddy that works there who has an Sr drive it, and he says he thinks the turbo sucks to much air, my Maf is crapping out on me. So, I don't know. He said other than that, the car runs great.

I would say then try another MAF sensor, just because you changed turbo's though doesn't mean your MAF sensor can't keep up, so if its MAF sensor related it must be wiring or a bad MAF sensor, especially at low boost that turbo is still flowing less air than a stock turbo does at 14psi and people run that set up all the time! Do you still have the stock MAF or did you convert to a Z32, and if you did the Z32 do you have an SAFC set up to correct for the different MAF sensor, 2in 6out?

Yes, I do have the stock SR Maf, and no, I have not tried another SR Maf because I can't find one. So, I have ordered a Z32 Maf to see if that helps. Any other info would be great.

how did you check for boost leaks? its sounds like a big boost leak. you should pressurise the system while the car is off and check for leaks.

Okay, on my Boost gauge at Idle, I'm sitting at about negative 18 PSI. Does that sound correct?

a leak in your intercooler piping wont show up on the boost gauge.

here use this to check for leaks:zerothread?id=113785

All right! I fixed the problem. I took off the stock SR intake and fabricated one from my old AEM CAI off of my Accord Six Speed. Now it boosts to 15 PSI..I need to tune it before I run it long at that boost. It's amazing now.
