I recently installed a stock t25 turbo i bought on ebay from i love tacotaco store.(cheap bastards) its for a SR20det redtop. when i installed the turbo the oil lines, and water lines where in different locations than my stock turbo i customized the lines from the turbo and extended them to there correct place on the motor. making sure all flowed good. the thing was that the oil return line was located on top part the housing not on the bottom facing down like my previous one. will my oil not return out of the turbo if it is located on the top? and not facing down so it can drain out? or does the oil in the turbo have enough pressure to push out through the top? the problem is, is that when i installed it and turned on the vehicle the first boost it did seemed like it blew the bearings or something. heard a noise while i was barely boosting not even half throttle, if you can help in figuring out what caused that i would gladly appreciate it thanks the car is a 240sx with SR20 swap.

sounds like you didnt clock the turbo properly. oil return must always face down.

trial and error i guess. im new to the turbo game so bare with me.! im taking off the turbo today to inspect it. so by clocking it you mean turning the center piece of the turbo where all the line fitting go and rotating it to where the oil return is pointing down? but yeah thats probably what happened. being my first turbo install i learned a lesson the pricy way jaja the turbo was cheap anyway. you think i blew the bearings?

more than likely. also its hit or miss with ebay turbos so you could of had a bad one in the first place.

all turbos are gravity drained to much back pressure tryin to up the oil up and out could blow out the seals then you have a leaky turbo if you didnt drive it hard or abuse it you should be good when you go to take the trubo off is there should be no oil on the walls of the down pipe or no blue ish smoke when you first drove it then the turbo should still be ok i think but just make sure everything is fitted tight and in the right location and you should be a ok
