First time I owned one, is it supposed to smoke? I assume yes

If this turbo WRAP or turbo BLANKET? Because I used to have turbo wrap and it did smoke up. Now I have the turbo blanket and it doesn't smoke at all.

It will probably smoke at the beginning, but it should stop. Smoke is the by product of somthing burning. So grease, glue or whatever will burn right off. If it keeps smoking, I'd worry. How is it fastened, not plastic zip ties?

Its a turbo blanket, from Phase II.

And yep its new, installed it and drove up the block. I think its the 'wool' buring since small pieces are falling off.

LOL I didnt use anything to fasten it (zip ties did cross my mind though), it fits pretty darn tight and my turbo is real close to the brake lines so they hold it.

Thanks for the help guys.

BTW care to share your thoughts on if it hurts a turbo due to trapping the heat?

The more heat kept inside the turbo and exhaust system the better the scavenge and flow will be. Heat = Energy...plus keeping the underhood temps down is also a way to improve how the motor functions.

I read a debate somewhere about keeping all the heat inside with turbo blankets.

Something about condensation, or some crap. Are these false accusations/facts?

Wrapping exhaust may keep in moisture causing corrosion...but the benefits outway the risk.
