I picked up a used transmission for my G with only 9300 miles on it. It will sit in my garage until the time comes.

$100 I sell shipping so I shipped it to myself from the east coast for $117.

I imagine I will loose my transmission somewhere north of 140,000 miles and I'll have this one to swap in.

My goal for my G is when it is done being a daily driver to make it a track toy. I plan to rebuild my factory transmission with Level 10 parts myself. Rebuild my engine making it a 4.1 stroker and then 2 turbo chargers I'm going to put the turbos remote like the STS system so I will still have that stock look.

At that point I will have something else to drive for work it will be a few years away.

What prompted the transmission purchase was seeing one for so cheap. These things are $1500 - $2000 at most of the auto recyclers.

Last month I had a weird starting acceleration lag that felt like a failing torque converter to me so I started shopping. In the meantime my new ECU learned throttle and the lag went away.

I watch for motors too if I see a 3.5 or 3.7 VQHR come up for cheap I will grab it too. You can't start building your stroker motor too early

$100 buck huh? dang. I'm jealous. I bet you will get more than 140K miles out of your transmission though. The automatic transmission have been known to be much more reliable than the manual in the G.

Let me know if you come across a 2003/2004 5AT that cheap. I'll even let you send it to me for cheap!

Jeff

That's a heck of a good deal.

Looking forward to see the build.

You can't go wrong with any of the engine. Even the stock internals are capable 500 ponies before running out of fuel. If I remember correctly.

I have always raced my daily driver. I am hoping for a racecar. I think with a 4.1 stroker and 2 turbos I should be able to get between 700 and 800 hpI'll probably run a 50hp shot of nos too just for fun

It would be so cool to have 8 second G35 sedan.

And I want it to be street legal

This project is years away although I build it in my head all day long.

Nope it is fine right were it is.

If I don't need it for daily driver duty before the turbo project it will get torn down and rebuilt using level 10 parts. I'll do the rebuild myself. I will probably rebuild both transmissions and sell one of them for profit.

I saw a VQ35HR on car-part the other day for $500!!! It was condition A and said parts good condition 39k miles I am very tempted to call. Not that I have $500 laying around. It would be awesome to get a motor for $100 and start tearing it down and doing the actual machine work now. I wonder if I could go local for the crank and not have to buy the complete 4.1 stroker kit. I bet a 4.1 stroker with 8.8 compression and 20 psi will make 800 hp

I'll probably get real good at rebuilding transmissions maybe I should keep both of them LOL

link didnt work...

thats a steal for that engine btw

I picked up a tran for $325.

Where do you find "level 10" parts if I build one of the trans?

Would you have to replace all the solenoids, clutch packs, and skags as well as the torque converter?
