Our AWD has the dreaded transmission issue...Fortunately our dealer (Harrisonburg Nissan) has been absolutely fantastic about the matter. They are offering to order a new transmission and install, but say that Nissan, while "aware" of the problem", can not guarantee that the new transmission will solve the problem.

So, do I go ahead and get a new transmission while the offer stands, or wait until Nissan becomes "aware" of a definitive solution?

When I took my Rogue in the dealer traced the noise to the transmission and told me they were going to install a new one. The following day I received a call saying that I wouldn't be getting a new transmission now, Nissan was aware of the problem and are looking into it and that there has been no failures. I was also told that a new transmission could make the same noise.

The noise doesn't bother me that much, I got 72 months of bumper to bumper and it is on file. I do call every month for updates and I'll keep doing that for the time being. I don't think I would have had a new transmission installed if it was going to make the same noise because I hate being without a vehicle unless of course it failed.

I guess if you can get a new transmission, go for it and maybe you'll be rid of the noise and if you are, report back

I would JUMP at the chance for a new transmission... so far, everyone here with the new transmission has had no reappearance of the dreaded rattle which leads me to believe that it's a bad batch of trannys and maybe a relatively small batch.

GO FOR IT!
