I am a newcomer to this forum. I got a question for someone who knows this better than me. Im gettin a 240sx. im still lookin. i am trying to find one cheap and drop an sr20det in it. If i do the engine swap do i need an sr20det transmission to handle the torque it makes. And also i found a 240 near by but its automatic. so i figured when i drop the sr20 in convert it to manual while im in the process. Is that a disaster. By the way im not planning on doing the engine swap my self im getting it professionally done. thank you please leave me some good feedback so i can figure this **** ouuuuuut.

From what I've heard the KA auto can take somewhere between 400-600hp pretty well. the KA manual I have never heard having problems handling torque nor have I with the SRs. High HP may require a new clutch and flywheel but that has notthing to do with which transmission you use. What the hell I say you'd be better with a KA-T anyways. As for finding an SR the best way is to shop around. Start with the sponsers in the Nico Add Directory.

generally the thing that gives troubles on at->mt conversions is getting the reverse lights to work. It's not going to be a disaster if you search it as it's well documented on this site.

Black top s13's have pretty much the same power as redtop s13's just a better oil pickup design. Where you'll see a difference is with the s14's and s15's where they've got a different head design from the s13's and the turbos are different. Blocks have some slight differences as well but irrelevant to you unless you plan on mixing parts around.
