Got my newly rebuilt 91 trans installed, stock torque convertor, extra clutches, cross hatched, dialed up pressure, extra flow to planetary, synthetic fluid, drilled out valve body, shift enhancer kit. possibly other things too. I was really pissed that they did not install the higher rate tc (said did not like the way it fit) i bitched and moaned and got drunk w/ the guy who then said " get me the convertor and i will put it in for freee".well SHE CHIRPS SECOND GEAR, holds firm too all shift points, and allows me to break the tires loose on any turn. 3-4 shift is pretty sweet.upon startup shows "transmission malfinction" which goes away, and my cel came back on today.more to follow, after she is scanned againon another note $73.00 to fill my tank today in NJ

Sounds awesome! You will spend more money on tires, than gas if you canget that baby to put that power to the rear tires, rather than tranny heat.

I never did anything with that resistor. I plan to install it, but am looking at installing a 300ZX exhaust system first. I just have to get the guts to remove the spare tire well and cut the perfect rear bumper on the passenger side, first.

Sweet. The valve body job is the best thing you could have done. All that other stuff sounds like you are trying to get a one of a kind Q going.

James....got a question for ya and do the following:

While going at 40+mph put the car manually into 1st gear (don't worry your car will not go into 1st until the speed gets down to 35mph) and then let your foot all the way off the gas letting it slow down so that speed gets to 30mph. When you car slows to 35mph the tranny should automatically go into first gear and when it does you should hear your rear tires chirp from the car gearing down so hard, tight, and fast. My car does this and it scares the crap out of people (both in & out)when they hear my exhaust rev upwards and rear tires chirp at the same time as they can't figure out what the hell is going on as the combination of the sounds when you are suppose to be slowing down is confusing....

Just another way for you to leave rubber on the pavement. I have only been in one other car that did this way back when I was 20 in my friends 73 C3 that had an automatic and his would really do it just nasty locking up both rear tires for like a foot or more.

awesome, James. 1900 installed? might be worth a x-c drive!I've sleuthed out a bit about drilling the valve body, do you know what your guy did specifically on the 'shift enhancer' that might be in addition to the vb separator plate?

i've been meaning to ask you.... should be a 5 minute deal since layla no tcs. you should not get a trans malfunction warning with that resistor value.at least i know now that you got it in the mail!

Yeah, $1900 instaled - Great deal. Too bad the Z32 TC didn't work out, at least now we know that's a dead end unless you want to make a spacer.

Good to see you have the new trany in, James. Can't wait to drive your Q again to compare. By the way, I paid $67.00 to fill up last week. Makes me miss the gas mileage of my Honda Accord I use to have.
