Ok..... I got a little bored this afternoon so I decided to check out the active cooler area......

So anyway, after you review the pictures, I took some measurments.....

Theres approx 13"x12" for a cooler with plenty of extra room..... You could SQUEEZE a 16"x13" if you really wanted to.... Unfortunately, it cant get much bigger than that......

This seems like a MORE ideal location, since it gets cold air rushing in from the air dam (there is about a 8in area where it can enter) and from behind (wheel well vents).....

I put a piece of paper (8.5x11) to illustrate how it would look......

That's where I'm putting my oil cooler.

It seems like it would work great at speed in that location, but not as well at idle and low speeds. The traditional location between the radiator and condenser gets help from the fan pulling air thru it, at low speeds/acceleration when you need the most help.

Just my 2 cents...

Thats why some have suggested putting in a fan....... I could rig up a 12v blower easy enough.......

Why do you need an oil cooler?

I would say driving around in an AZ summer would warrant having a cooler for the gas tank. It's brutal. I would fin everything.

I'd wonder about how putting a cooler there would impact the air reaching the front brake...

Just about nil because there is a straight shot from the from fascia to the louvers in front of the driver's side wheel. Now how about the passenger side where there are no louvers in the wheel lliner? Hmmmm.

Ducting to the front brakes would help in heavy use.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45
