Look at what I just got:

It really is perfect timing. Just last week I finally got around to taking the alternator off my 93 J. It was almost brand new when the car stopped working.

When I got my 94, I was told that the funny sound that sounded like an exhaust shield rattling was actually my alternator going out. Well, last night, I took my wife out to eat and when we got back in the car and I cranked it up, all the lights on the dash where lit up. The alternator is finally dying.

I ordered the smaller size belts for the underdrive pulley almost 2 weeks ago so Monday I will go pick them up, if they're in, and then take the pulley, belts, and alt to my mechanic. I just don't have time to get them all on there and he said he'd do it all for just over $100.

I'll let y'all know how it drives once the new pulley is on.

Thats the underdrive(crank) pully right?I have one of those pullys I just never put it on. I am afraid somehow it may be unbalanced and cause some fatal damage to my engine. and/or the timing just get screwed up and beng all my valves heh.

let me know how it goes. good luck!

The crank pulley has nothing to do with your timing.

It may affect the efficiency of your AC however. Since you live in MS this might be an issue during the summer.

I played around with the idea of putting a UR underdrive pulley on my FX but decided against it because of this. If there's a lighter, stock-size pulley available I'd be interested.

However, gains across the entire powerband should be realized with this.

From the Local Nissan Dealership. $9.99 for A/C, $10.65 for ALT, $15.58 for P/S. I'm still waiting for the P/S belt to come in. I got the part numbers for the smaller belts out of another thread on here about underdrive pulleys.

It's going to be a little longer. The belts are in and I'm going to pick them up this morning but the pulley actually had a small ding on the side and I got the seller to send me another one.

I'm probably going to install them myself instead of taking them to the guy I was going to because of the way he repaired on of our cars. It was a VW Beetle that the air wasn't working. He replaced the evap core but when I went to drive it back all the lights were on. ABS, cel, traction control, brake, and a couple more.

The way he fixed it has me thinking twice about letting him touch my beloved. His scanner tool is in the shop getting fixed so he didn't have anyway of finding out what was actually wrong with the car so he pulled the bulbs out of the dash. If it was up to me, I'd never take him another vehicle ever.

yeah definatly find a new guy.

i think in order to give yourself aenough room to work you may have to remove the radiator and fan, and form there it looks like a fairly easy job( but with my luck it will end up being a day project for me. ) good luck
