Welcome, I'm kind of a newbie here also. I had FI on a 4 cylinder. I went the Turbonetics "safe" kit. ended up popping #4 and made a huge mess. My new
builder claims that the safe way will wear out the rings and usually the cylinder
walls. When we re-did the engine, instead of just replacing the stock block, we went with a built sleeved block tested to 35 psi boost. Than crank, rods mains, new pistons,
etc. I learned the hard way that half is def not good enough. The engine also had
118k on it.

I'd say you are planning on going the right direction, but with
the VQ35 it takes deeper pockets.
