Hey there everyone. The name is Chris and I bought this thing in the fall last year while I was living in NC as a beater car with lots of intentions. I paid $1800 and had to trailer back to my apt since the clutch slave was junk and needed replacing. It is a 1990 NA 2+0. She is definitely no gem at this point, the interior is about a 3 out of 10 and the outside probably a 7. The body is solid since it is a southern car but the doors have rust and the T-tops are crap as well. Other than that the car is solid just needs paint.
Mechanically the car was rough to get going. The drive shaft carrier bearing was shot and the front diff mounts too. Once i replaced the clutch slave cylinder and i began to bleed it the master blew out. Thanks to concept z i got a rebuild kit and fixed that quite quickly. Then once again bleeding the system and the rubber line to the slave cylinder blew apart with the first hard pump. (No pun intended);)
Things changed and i moved back to good old central PA and had to trailer the car home. More parts and more brake fluid later the clutch works. So finally i can drive the car. On the first drive i notice a real nice grinding noise from the rear. After some diagnostics and component elimination i find the rear diff pinion gear carrier bearing is shot. Can't say my education at Wyo tech was a complete waste. So i am dealing with that for now since it is a mild noise.
I am not sure what the young boy that owned the car before me thought was cool but the car had NO AIR FILTERS and the exhaust is all hacked up and welded as a single piece with no cats. Half the hangers were not attached so that it had a lot of movement while driving. I think he thought it was cool looking.
Anyway long story short i am an avid car junkie and have always loved the looks of the Z32, i can honestly say i never thought about it beyond that before. My passions have always been in the DSM market. I have owned 2 and currently have a fully built 98 eclipse GSX that i have been building for about 4 years. I was also a Honda mechanic for years and found a liking for light weight early 90's civic hatchbacks with built motors and wicked stiff suspensions. This comes from auto crossing so much.
Since i decided to go back to school for engineering my car budget has been really low for the last 4 years, which is why the eclipse took so long. Honestly I'm ready to move on from the dsm scene and move into something more rare. DSM's are everywhere and that's why i bought the z. I'm thinking about taking the money I get from selling my eclipse and doing a TT swap and a full restore on my z.
I look forward to becoming a part of the community as i have been creeping on the forums for some time now and see that it is a very friendly and helpful place.
