Hello everyone. My name is Gabe I picked up a 93 vert over the weekend. It has 114k miles and it is in pretty good shape other then a dented drivers side fender. It is un molested and the top is only a year old! It does however have a bad auto but I have a spare to swap it out for now. Eventually I will be doing a 5 spd manual swap. This is my first 240sx but I have owned and am very knowledgeable about the S30 Chassis Z cars. I have a 77 280Z that I have turbocharged and have majorly modified. As for the vert, I do have a issue with the AC controls though.. The selector lights do not light up at all times.. and when they are not lit, I cannot select floor, defrost ect. Think the unit is bad? I have looked at all the fuses and they all seem fine. I searched and was not able to find anything off hand. Any help would be great. I have been looking through all the stickies and have read up a great deal on these cars. I cant wait to get her on the road and start enjoying it. Plans for this car are pretty simple. It is going to be my daily driver. So I want working AC, nice wheel/tire combo, decent suspension but nothing too stiff and eventually I might turbo the KA and run like 10psi through it. Thanks..

The lights on the HVAC controls not working is pretty normal, but the other stuff seems like that HVAC unit is bad, I'd swap it out. Junkyard or the classifieds should find one pretty easily.

Yeah when the little green lights are working everything on the controls work.. so I was thinking it is something in the unit that is shorting out.

Welcome Gabe!!!

You must post pictures of the new vert, and the Z! It's sort of a right of passage here on the 'vert forum... You won't be fully accepted into the group until you do that. lol.

congrats on the low miles.. 114k is great for these cars nowadays.

If your going to go through the hassle of swapping out a bad auto trans, I would suggest doing the 5 spd swap right away.. seems like a waste of time and money to put another auto in there, only to drop and it put a manual trans in later. The 5 spd swap is really easy to do and inexpensive! Might as well do it now.

I wouldn't fuss with the climate control unit. Just find another one from a salvage yard or someone on the forums parting out their car. For as little as they cost, might as well get one that works and not waste the time on the one you have.

Anyways.. Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the purchase, and let's see some pictures!!

Finally solved the electrical issue with the AC!!! I got a buddy of mine to come and help me troubleshoot. He is a wiring guru and it only took us about 2 hours. It ended up being a relay that sits behind the fuse box on the drivers side kick panel. Now the lighter works, wipers work and my AC compressor kicks on. I just gotta get it hooked up on a machine and see why its not blowing cold. It has already been converted to 134.

****ninja edit*** I just realized that I have had this car for just about a year now.. heh Wooot.

They are Rota RBR. 17x9 up front and 17x9.5 out back. They are modeled after the Watanabe wheels from japan.
