Post

(I posted this in the general chat forum, but wanted to join in on the Versa Forum as well)So, in reading another post by a recent Versa owner, I thought I would do my intro speech as well. Last month I bought my VERY FIRST CAR! After graduating from college in June, I decided to make my first adult decision by financing a car!

I purchased a Nissan Versa Hatchback SL, with CVT and many other goodies. Oh yeah and it's the Metallic Blue, which is pretty snappy against the contrast of the red taillights. I must say it was love at first sight. I first got the Versa bug when I rented one in Baltimore, MD for a summer job. After searching around, and test driving other cars like the Toyota Matrix (meh..) my heart fluttered back to the Versa.

I already had my first "break it in" road trip, and it was smooth driving all the way up. As cheese-ball as this is, I did name it, and have become pretty attached to it. But what can I say, it's my very first car and I couldn't be happier. It even experienced it's first snow, and is just screaming at me to drive it, but the weather's been crappy, and I don't have chains yet. *I live on a hill, and wouldn't get very far before I slide through a few stop signs...so I'll wait*

Anywho, there isn't much point to this post other than saying I'm excited I found this club site, and I definitely have the "New Versa Owner Pride" and am loving it. Oh, and if anyone has any Versa nuggets I should be aware of, be sure to share!p.s. It still has the new car smell which is awesome!!! p.p.s. When vacationing in Maui I happened upon a dashboard hula girl, and well, I'll be frank, I couldn't say no. It's my one kitchy classic that bobbles around in the back of my hatchback to every stop start and turn....Fantastic!

Oh....and Happy Holidays to all you Versa Owners, may the season bring you joyous driving, and Nissan merriment!!

Yay! Another new Versa owner. Welcome to NICO, I hope you enjoy your time here!

What kind of things do you plan on doing to the car, as far as mods and customization? Besides that, I wish there were people from CO that are on the forums.

well, I wish I could say I have big plans to spiff it up and customize it. But to be honest, I'm not too savvy on the whole concept. But I can tell you that the one I bought came with a pinstripe detail running right below the windows, and it also came with tire well protectors (if that's even what you call them) they protect the body of the car from getting road damage. But beyond that, maybe you can make some suggestions that I will one day be able to implement. But for now, that nice monthly payment is pretty much sucking up all the possibilities for now...haha.

That's understandable. Well, the first thing I would do is get window tint. I'm not sure what the legal limits are in OR. As far as other mods go, that's all up to you and what you can afford.

What extra goodies did you get with the SL?

I plan on purchasing the factory fog light kit online pretty soon, and get the OEM interior accent lighting. I haven't seen any pictures of the interior accent lighting kit online anywhere, but I think it would be cool to have.

hmm...window tint. I'll look into that. Is that sort of a beginners move for customizing? I guess you could consider me an idiot when it comes to anything car related. I do like the sound of the accent interior lighting.

Window tint is pretty common, so I would say it's considered the first thing done to a car. Basically, it helps reduce the heat in the interior of the vehicle plus deter people from snooping through your windows.

Hey pindropsound, I forgot to add. If you go to the Northwest forums, they have a 'NICO Northwest' banner you can add to your signature. That will help spread the word around!

Alright, you're just gonna have to walk me through it. I'm all for adding the banner, but can't figure out how to add it to my signature. Welcome to working with an amateur, haha. I clicked on your link and it said to add the quote into my signatures, I did, and nothing happened.

That's ok, this is what you can do.

1. Click on the link on the post that you went to.

2. The post with the banner/picture, right click on it, go to properties.

3. In the properties window, highlight the address URL of the image.

4. When you create your signature, click the image icon that looks like a mountain.

5. After the two img things come up, right click between them and paste the banner code.

Try that, if you have trouble you're more than welcome to ask me or anyone for guidance.

.........alright milehigh and newbie.....starting to sound kinda serious between u2. .....GET A ROOM.......just kidding. welcome to the versa family. just remember 5w 30 oil and nothing else. even if someone tries to tell you synthetic etc. with different viscosities are ok you tell them 5w- 30 oil and that's it. i am thinking that some of our members here have had valve lash problems cuz some idiot either put in wrong oil or they told them it's ok. it's not ok and above that good luck. mileage will be down for winter so don't fret over that.

Hahah, very funny. Well, I'll have to remember the oil tip when I get it changed. Thanks. It's about a month old, so I've got some time before that happens.
