I went the ka turbo route...and that was prety fun while it lasted. ( one whole day )... And i recently got an insurance settlement, so i decided to look into a sr20det swap. I wanted reliability, and upgradability, and i know that the sr20 is a great motor when it comes to both. I called a local shop and got a great deal:

- Redtop Sr20det with only 80,000km on it ( verified it on the gauge cluster)- 180sx/silvia VLSD- Silvia Brake upgrade- Silvia Driveshaft ( duno if it is better or not, but it was included for free)

Here is the stuff that i asked him to add at the time of install:- ACT 6 puck clutch- Blitz downpipe- Greddy turbo extension - nismo motor mounts

All of that installed and in the car for $5,200

All my friends say that it is a good deal, and so do some other shops. I know for a fact that this shop does some extremely clean work too. The swaps look like they were straight outta japan. I was wondering if there were any suggestions on what else to get at the time of install.. and if you think that it is a good deal..

Well i would definitly recomend a walbro fuel pump and 300zx fuel filter. Also a boost gauge, and if u got the cash a good exhaust and front mount.

I have the boost gauge already from my ka-t setup. Im definately going to do a fuel pump and filter... and i figured y not do a flywheel while they are doin the clutch. Im going to leave the internals stock for now. I think ill also leave the smic for now untl i upgrade to a diff turbo ( prolly s15 ) and headwork. Im also planning on doing a high flow cat, and the hks 85mm catback exhaust asap. Any other suggestions?

dam, i'm glad i do my own work......i've spent probably $6000 in the last 2 months, but i got WAY more goodies (and broken nuckles, and bumps on the head, and higher blood pressure). oh and that's the price of the car included.... just a testament to the diy guys!

IMO, get the front mount. Extra Money, but a lil bit more reliable.

Don't forget about the small stuff that everyone fails to mention like spark plugs, radiator hoses, heater hoses, belts, AIV plug. Sure this dosen't add up to much, but it is not a bad idea to do it.

true..i looked at the motor and all of the belts are EXTRA clean.. the only thing that i could maybe see doing is getting the greddy pullies so that it looks extra super clean in the engine bay. I am also going to probably get iridium plugs, and maybe that cool ignition system.. i hear really good things about it, and apparently it makes some decent hp for the price. I have to look more into that though.
