So I'm starting a KA build here in the near future. Just waiting on my brother to decide which of the engine and transmissions he is going to use for his build. I know that I am going to start by rebuilding the engine and transmission then dropping the entire thing into a shell. I know there are plenty of experienced 240 builders on this site so I was wondering about what the most efficient way to disassemble the engine would be. Any and all advice is appreciated greatly.

Well welcome to nico. And I'm too going to be rebuilding my engine and to disassemble it I am going to follow the FSM (Factory Service Manual). Those can be found on here, just search for them...

Thanks for the advice. Where on here can they be found?

Also I'm still trying to figure out what direction I want to take with this build. I know I'm going to keep the outside pretty stock because everybody knows that a stock car is dirty. But as far as the engine components are concerned I am still uncertain. Any Ideas?

Well depends on what you want to use the ka for?? If you are wanting to turbo it and are only looking for ~300whp then get a rebuild kit and use that. If you want more than that then i'd say look into the AMS advanced rebuild kit which is ~$1700 and has all the forged block internals you need and all the gaskets, timing chain and etc. As for the FSM's i couldn't find them on nico but there on 240sx forums so:

Well there's my dilemma. I know I'm going to turbo it and the forged internals is a must because I want to build pretty good horsepower. Drifting is probably in this car's future.

well if your planning a boosted engine for drifting ...id sugest5 forged everything..and most important...duel springs at least..most slide there rides hangin on the rev limiter..with that type of abuse on stock valve springs..its possible to pop some valves into the pistons..and id allso recomend arp everything..and a cometic headgasket to hold your boost...hope this helps a little..and welcome to nico man. :wavey:

Welcome! KA build for me too. Id rather build a boosted 2.4L with alot of torque too. Why buy another motor when you already have one with potential? Theres no replacement for displacement. Thats how i see it. Good luck!

Everyone thinks the same as you when they have there KA.
They want to turbo it, they want to be different.
Eventually people just swap in another motor. Some will actually follow through and turbo the KA.
