Hey all, i'm about to pick up my brothers 1990 nissan 240sx coupe. It's a ka24e/automatic and i was hoping to turbo charge the lil' bugger. anyways, i was hoping on building a decent turbo setup for cheap.

The turbo i found is from a 84 chrysler new yorker 2.2l (garret TB0335). the specs are as follows

Garrett model number: TB0335 (T3 series turbo)

Compressor Trim: 50

Compressor housing A/R: .42

Turbine Trim: 69

Turbine housing A/R: .48

Horsepower Capabilities: ~275hp

Internal Wastegate: Yes

Wastegate setting: 7 psi

so my question is. with such a small housings and trim, and the wastegate setting at 7psi (which is what i'm looking for), how well will it perform as far as the powerband is concerned?

P.S. this will be a temporary setup, once i have the money for a manual swap and various parts, the whole temp setup will be going to my daily driver ( a k24a4 manual honda element.)

The turbo is slightly small in my opinion, but it should work decent for starts.

Powerband should be great low and mid, but is going to suffer high end.

Ebay turbo's for the most part aren't any good. I'd be FAR happier with a used version of a known good brand. Holset's are only like $300 used, the CT26 is a good used turbo...many great turbo's for a project that wants under 20 psi of boost.

The CT26 from the Supra or MR2 would be ok for a mild boost setup. Mild being under 20 psi

I had a friend over on Okinawa that had his stock CT26 cranked to 20 psi on his MR2 and it was pretty quick. No lag to speak of either and that's on a 2.0 3SGTE.
