Hello gents,

After lurking : for a few days, I decided to post up.

I currently own a 2004 subaru sti with a garrett gt35r turbo kit. As much as i love it and the 450 or so crank horses, I must move along and get a 'more rational' car. haha.

I just need to know what kind of price i could expect to pay for an 03, what types of things i should look out for, etc.

any feedback is appreciated!

thanks and i should have one by this time next month!

eric

Hi Eric!

You chose wisely, it's a lot of car for the $. Their values have dropped, and if you find a low mileage one, you can do real well.

Obviously, i'd recommend buying an out-of-state one, so as to avoid rust issues.

AutoTrader seems to be the best source - Get it, throw an extended warranty on it, and rock.

Some of them burn oil, but that's about it.

There are some threads on what to look for ... I remember posting on this relatively recently too, so a search would be good.

Basically, short of the engine oil consumption issue, everything else is sorta normal stuff. Do get an extended warranty if you want to avoid the expensive repairs on many electronic items (like if the NAV system goes awry).

thanks, i've been looking through all the m35/45 threads for info, which is pretty helpful.

i figure i'll try to get a low mileage black or silver. i'll also try to get that extended warranty with all the high tech gew-gaws that debuted around that time.

eventually i'll try to find a decent exhaust system, but haven't found any specific fits for the 03-04. Perhaps an intake, or drop in filter may be also a good idea. i know NA cars don't respond nearly like turbo's car to those types of mods, but i'll take even a couple extra horses.

thanks again

There isn't any real intake mod available for the 2003 /4 model years that we know of. Plus, if you change the stock air filter for the K&N, you will probably cause problems with engine performance (MAF fouling, etc.)!

Frankly, this is one car that does just fine in stock form! Just keep it in good performance shape, and it will treat you just fine with its combination of power and luxury!
