Hey guys. I just bought my new 08 SE-R Spec V last week. It was time to get a family car. I traded my 02 Audi TT Roadster in on it actualy. I was a bit upside down on the car so I could only fathom a $20k for now. I was very impressed with the performance of the Spec V and the standard options in the car. I say that I am kinda new to the nissan worl because I actualy had a 84 nissan sentra, back in the day. It has about 700 miles on it now. So about 600 more to go before the initial break in. Then I can realy see how the car raps out the revs.

Some Ideas that I have for the car.

Not so much digging the front grill. Thinking of doing my own mod by taking it out and painting a gutter guard flat black. I still have to look at the grill and see how easy it is to take out. If I have to break anything I will leave it. Anyone else thinking of doing something liek this?

A question about what people are runnign for oil. I work with a buddy that deals amzoil. I am thinking about running it in the car. I had a coupel of questions. When is the earliest you can run sythetic oil in the new cars? Also will nissan void the warranty if I run an aftermarket oil filter in it? I know that the Nissan oil filters have a flow preventer valve in it. So I have looked into the aftermarket one to insure this feature is available from the sythetic oil filters from amzoil.

Third and last. Suspension. I have always been a fan of upgrading suspension before the engine. Having track expierence I know that it is not all about power. So, if I do go with a suspension will this void any warranty?

Thanks guys. Glad to join the ranks of Nissan. Uriah

as for the grill, i gutted mine, and noticed that my coolant temps are cooler, and the indash outside temp is more accurate.

There are 2 screw like pop pins on the top of the grill when you pop your hood. then on the top corners there are 2 more places you need to pop then out, then 6 more on the bottom inside.

You can use synthetic on your first oil change. they se-r and spec v already have synthetic form factory.

you can use any oil filter without voiding warrenty, and any oil as long as its 5w30.

As for suspension, there is little made for the car, but the only way the suspension upgrades can void warrenty is if the dealership can PROVE without a resonable doubt that those modifications cause a problem on the car.

Thanks for the tips. Glad to here that the Spec V comes stock from the factory with synthetic oil. I will have to look into doing that to my grill. Seems like I can take it out without damaging anything.

Another question. Anyone upgraded there headlight bulbs yet. I went to the auto parts store to get some Sylvania's and they don't seem to make the Silverstar Ultras for the Sentra. Any other suggestions. Also anyone get the H11 amber fog lamps for there's yet?

I have the silverstar headlights and turn signals. There have been alot of people that have problems with the Ultra's. Besides i keep getting flashed by oncomming motorist who think my silverstar low beams are brights.

H11 are around, your local Autozone should have them, if not, they can order them for you.

Check my introduction thread for an idea of the front grille.

I modded mine because I like everyone else we don't particularly like the stock one.

-Very Tasteful grill. How did you paint the chrome ring on the grill. Did you sand it then shoot the paint on it? And Did you use gutter guard for the mesh?

-Where did you get the front lip?

Thanks!!

I roughed up the chrome and used flat black paint but it chipped and flaked after 1 month.

I bought the front lip from stillen.com and when I had it painted I had my grille repainted in the KH3 the car comes in and it's been much better now, over a month and still kicking.
