Well I came over from the Honda camp.... (joke BTW I know we are all just car enthusiasts)For several reasons... One major being just to try something different for a change to see if I like it. Second being I am tired of some of the B.S. as far as stereotypes for Honda owners, people doing dumb stuff, cops hassling me because I have a car that a million F-tards have and automatically assume I am out to do something stupid, overpriced parts due to supply/demand; or maybe the fact that everyone is on the bandwagon, always liked the 240s, ummmm.... I wanted to drive something a little more sporty, need I go on? Owell... Anyway I am fixing to purchase a 91 240SX, but I have heard some things about them, and just wanted to get it cleared up... Are there any major probs that I should be worried about around those years? See, my friends are trying to get me to buy another Honda, and I have never really given two ****s about what others want me to drive, and I enjoyed my Hondas, I started out on a Honda. I just wanted to get some opinions as far as from you guys, because I have heard mixed opinions... I mean I know I will be getting a good car regardless, but any insight will be greatly appreciated... :D

you will most definately not be disappointed in getting a 240sx. for all the information and answers to your ?'s, head to the 240sx general chat forum. be sure to search for whatever it is you are looking for, and you will find it most likely. if not, we are more than happy to help. the problems to look for: well, not really that many. the infamous timing chain guide rattle seems to happen on every 240 i've ever heard of. mine does it. is very expensive to have fixed, and if you try and do it yourself, its a pain in the arse. so you better kno what you are doing. uhh, if the car comes with HUD, then the HUD has a history of going out on a few cars. lets see.....drivers side power window motor. it goes out easy. being a '91, it may have already been replaced, but who knows. well those are a few of the things to look for. good luck!!!

PS when you go to the 240sx general chat area, be sure to check the FAQ to learn more about the car

Not to worry..... we've had a lot of Honda refugees jumping ship and swimming over to the (somewhat) welcoming Nissan shores! The 240sx is a great car. It is underpowered in its stock form, but makes power quite easily with a little cash and know-how! The handling is GREAT. Stock, it is a little soft but can still out handle any comparable car.

You might catch flack from people around here (some tend to be very sensitive about the recent influx of Honda expatriots), but not to worry, you seem to have some genuine interest. just grin and bear it. You might be a little disapointed, as you mentioned you didn't want to be part of the bandwagon..... well the 240sx seems to be becoming the bandwagon vehicle of choice. At least this time people picked a decent vehicle to get all excited about!:D

You are still on the bandwagon....there have been dozens of Honda owners in the past two months who have signed on to these boards alone. Even with supply and demand parts are still cheaper for the Hondas.

Good luck with your search/car.If you have general or basic questions please use the search button in the top right hand corner. Also check out the couple of FAQ pages that are up, there are a few in the 240 general chat. Enjoy.

Take a Civic, and a 240sx. Put the exact same upgrades on them, and you will get the same attention from police. Police don't have a magical "Honda radar" to hassle people.

That being said, welcome to the boards!

Awesome! Another Honda win-over!! I have nothing against Honda's however, They are great cars. Nissan has always apealed to me more since they are a little more exclusive than the Hondas and the Toyotas, and as far as I am concerned, as reliable.

Good luck on your search/purchase. If you have any questions about Nissans or Infinitis, you are in the right place!

And ahhh! I just noticed you live in Destin! I love it there. I have been there many many times for vacation, most recently this past September. I love the emreald coast!

"...people doing dumb stuff"

well hopefully you'll be blessed without that now.Unfortunately it's a select 240 owners that are the problem makers in our area...they have a problem with losing traction on all 4 wheels in parking lots next to large groups of people. (Luckily this hasn't ever happened at a NICO meet) POint is, it's not the cars, it's the peopleRegardless of all that BS, you're in the right spot now so WELCOME!!

No but I do!! :evilhaha .....oh wait...I actually don't...damn

Welcome to the wagon, don't believe anything you read in SCC and APC doesn't make quality parts :yesnod

And don't forget, you haven't bought a 240, so you can still buy another honda. Personally I would rather have a beat up primer grey crx with one wiper :thinker

Now you gotta prove youself to us
