Wassup guys,

For a while I've been thinking of picking up a project car, something I can work on and modify and also use to develop my driving skills and I'm thinking a 240SX may be the way to go. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips for when I get around to actually shopping for one, like what common problems should I be aware of, and things I should look or listen for during a test drive to see if the car was abused. I won't be buying the car anytime soon as there are other things I have to take care of first, plus I want to take my time and do this right.

Thanks

the timing chain rattle is the only real "defect" our cars have. other than that, its just the regular stuff youd check for when buying any car. clutch slipping, burning oil, clean coolant etc

You forgot the other defect. Nissan never sealed the holes for the crappy foam spoiler on the hatch. Thus, hatch cancer!

My trunk lid has no rust........nor does my trunk anywhere. It's weird, especially with the rest of the rust on the car. The trunk though is flawless I lucked out. Carfax definitely helps out.

Definately one of the most solid parts on your car. Still say get a CF lid though

I know I was pointing out how weird it was that it's so solid and not one bit rusty. But ya the cf one is hot.
