New to the forums, S12, S13 or S14??

Hi guys. I am new here. My current car will be reaching the end of it's potential as soon as I finish the last mods on it. I searched the net and picked everyone's brains for the ultimate cheap build up car, and even though I like Hondas, I NEED RWD. So, I want to buy a project S car. I had a S12 with the VG30E a few years back, and I loved that car. I am not a fan of the S13, but I really like the S14. I want a RB25DET in whatever S car I buy, but I am not sure if that will fit in the S12. That will be OK, because I am kinda set on S14, S12 or S13. What would you guys suggest? I know the S14 is more money initially, but it has dual airbags and is newer overall, the S12 has sentimental value for me, and the S13 seems like a good car. My goal is low 13's to mid 12's, no body kits, nothing flashy.I am on the fence, let me know your opinions, S12,13 or14??my old S12

Do you like things like power windows, power locks, sunroof, and leather seats? WHat is the car going to be used for

I would get a 89 S13 with no options (you said cheap!). take out everything (like power windows and leather seats) and then go from there. No one really does anything with S12s anymore and almost no members have them. They aren't the same as the S13 and S14 suspention either (I'm pretty sure)

EDIT: get something 95 and under so you don't have to deal with OBD II

Well, thanks for the suggestions. The S12 SE V6 had IRS, and 5 lug hubs. I also had 2 Z31's at the same time, and I believe the rear end is the same as those cars. But S12's are pretty much beat up by now. So, maybe S13 or S14.

I have ALL the luxuries in my current car, but I do need the basics in a 240SX, I can't live without sunroof (power or non power, no matter as long as it is OEM) and power windows. I don't need much more than that. I have found a few nice 95 240SX SE's for about $5k. I know that car has limited slip, what about S13's?? Do any trim levels of those cars have limited slip??

Yep, I love it, but it is maxxed out already. I will keep her for cruising, I want a 240SX for bruising (Although I have bruised quite a few cars with the ol' 4 door!).

Are those 5000k HID's on your Legend bright?

As for your decision, get the S14. I'm a little biased because I own one. I'm pretty sure you'll fall in love with it.

Ok, yes S13s and S14s can have LSD, but most do not. The only ones that do have HICAS (fourwheel steering) and LSD packaged together.

The sun roof isn't really a sun roof, its a moon roof that pops up in the back.

the only s13s with LSDs were super HICAS modelsfor s14s, LSDs were and option for SE's

My friend has a s13 SE with an electric slide back sunroof.

If you are really truely into just performance with the bear minimum of human comfort then you should get a s13 and stuff the RB in it.

i gotta say S12 i love thosethings they look like the AE to me i wanted to get one myself... defintley S12!! and uhh Jake jhon no 89 or 90 came w/ leather the LE option wasn't intoroduced until 91. and the coupe was XE and the FB was SE.. reduardless of options.. but ywah back to topic S12!
