How you guys doing? I just decided to finally join the forums, been slacking alot. I work at NSPerformance in Spartanburg, SC. I do motor swaps and the paint and bodywork. Any people in the area most likely know me. Later today I hope to put pics up of my build. I have a 95 240 with a blacktop type x sr swap, and a ton of other goodies. Let me know what you think about it thus far.

this is after the build on the motor and swap got finished

I had just completed the 5-lug conversion and body work, so it's just primer blackalso threw on the megan coilovers

after paint and some advan avs vs-5's. I am going for a clean jdm look.

I just did some work with mounting my safc-II, profec B, and turbo timer, also painted the advans with the time attack color combo, semi-flat black with red lip. I will post the new pics as soon as I get them on here.

For those wondering, the sr was pulled apart and cometic metal head gasket installed, oem crank it with all new bearings just to freshen it up, nismo 550cc injectors, installing my s15 turbo next week, of course the 3 inch megan exhaust and hks intake, shooting for about 350whp, just a good mild all around 240sx. the motor has about 15,000 on it since the build and the body just hit 80,000 miles. comments are welcome.

hey man yea i just checked your thread. nice car man i love how the wheels fit.

so did you use a rubber mallet to bend the lip up? i couldn't get it to completely bend up no matter how much i banged away at it. also what sz are the wheels?

these wheels are 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the rear, 255 series tire on the rear. I'm about to run a 265 to get the tire a little closer in the back. I did use a rubber mallet, did you try using a heat gun at all? the key is to slowly work at it until the lip feels completely flat on the inside. also, make sure you don't beat the lip along the bottom of the quarters, it will pinch.

front is a 17x8 with a 235/40 and the rear is a 17x9 with a 255/40, about to run a 265 series though, I believe the rear offset is a +38, but I can't remember, it's really hard to find these wheels as well as the specs on them. they are the advan avs vs-5's they come on the smz edition 300zx and yokohama made them in 1995. they made an extremely rare edition that was black with the red lip, these are not originally this color, mine were hyper silver that most of them came in.

o ok cool, whenever i look for tires for the 17s i always thought they only went up to 245.

that all goes into how wide they are. since my rears are 9 inches they can hold up to a 275 and still look pretty good, but I know they can fit a 295, but then the tires are bubbled out. just keep in mind the ratio changes as you get a wider tire, I could run a 275/35 instead of a 255/40 and it would have around the same overall diameter, just be wider.

i see i see, been trying to figure this wheel and tire stuff for a while now. What about if the wheels are staggered what effect does this have on the speedo? Also how do you maintain staggered tires, since you cant rotate or can you? Thanks alot

mine are actually staggered and you cannot rotate them if you have directional tires. I can't put my 9 inch wheel in the front and my 8 in the rear, and I cant switch the rears with each other because the tires are made to rotate one direction. also, a staggered wheel doesn't affect the speedo, the overall diameter of a tire is what changes the speedo, you should aim to keep the overall diameter close to the factory specs, meaning with a bigger rim, use a smaller sidewall on your tire. hopefully all this is helping you out, I have a friend who is a wheel and tire expert that I can refer you to if you want help picking the perfect wheel and tire combo for you, he knows everything there is to know about it.

I appreciate the input, I am considering putting the jdm kouki front end on it, but for now I'm just gonna get my s15 turbo put on and tune it for about 350 whp. any suggestions or ideas are welcome /

Nice car man

i don't know how i missed your thread ha.

the black/red paint really adds a nice touch to the wheels. and the overall look of the car.

and a shiny black cars always sexy

one question tho.what brand/line paint did u use for your car.and exactly how much base/ clear did you use?

im going to repaint my car but just don't know when exactly i want to do it... i do bodywork also.

hey man, thanks for the compliment. the paint I suggest is dupont all the way, they have a daughter company called nason that has nearly identical weight to it. what color are you planning? for any metallics, go with dupont chromabase and the chromaclear to match, otherwise you can just do the nason basecoat and clearcoat. the nason is a good bit cheaper and looks just as good after wet sanding. are you in the spartanburg area?

and I always go with a gallon of each, because with these cars you can never tell when you are gonna wreck. since black covers so easily, I still have about 2 quarts of base left and around 1 quart of clear. so in total I used half a gallon of base and 3/4's gallon of clear, but remember that metallics don't cover as well so they use more paint in general.

yeah, I really haven't gotten around to doing the catch can yet, I'll go with something a little later on. as far as the diamond plate, the car was wrecked at one point, so that is diamond plate sheetmetal layed over to give it a straighter look versus that bent up factory metal. I think it cleaned it up a good bit.

I appreciate it man, that is a rhd silvia coupe. Thinking gloss white on flat gold advans for that car. Shooting for around 500whp sr for it. That is up at our shop.

mmm, my bud just dynoed 350 at the wheels and he is running a gt2871, considering that I'm running a full valvetrain and the head has been shaved to the max (same setup as him), I think I'll get my goal. Thanks for the offer tho.

The most you can squeeze out of a S15 turbo (gt28r aka gt2560r) Is 300-330whp MAX and 18.5psi! After that it will be a heat pump! It will not flow past that unless you want to port and polish the compressor and turbine manifolds. Then maby 350whp. Even then It wont last forever when run maxed out alot. BUT it will have a great power band!

But dont let this discourage you, every body has dreams! Some times you have to shot for the stars!

yeah, I'm feeling what your saying man. My boss has the s15 motor and he was running around 18 pounds only putting down 300whp, that's on a completely stock setup with frontmount. I realize that 350 is REALLY a stretch, but the motor has been torn down and the compression is killer, the starter wouldn't even turn it when we first dropped it in. We thought the timing was off and we stuck a valve or something. But I know exactly where you are coming from, but I can't complain even for 330whp, it's my daily you know?

and mastayu, yeah I'm gonna dyno tune it, it will be a few weeks at least but I'll definitely put up my numbers and a vid for you guys.
