Hello guys, I am trying to find a 240sx that I like. I am primarily looking at S14's but 97-98 to be exact. I like their front body style. Anyway i have been finding really nice Kouki's with only like 100,000mi on them but most are automatics. But I have been thinking if I do buy a 240sx w/ 130,000mi that's a manual would I be saving or spending more money then if i were to buy a 240sx w/110,000mi that's an automatic then do an auto -> manual swap? because won't the clutch and stuff start going bad in a manual around that many miles? Not really sure, you guy's no more than me.

Also how much would you guys spend on a 97 240sx SE w/ 100,000mi and it's a Manual. (nothing is wrong with it.)

Thanks for the help in advance guys. Any input would be wonderful.

dont take this the wrong way but theres a huge search button that comes in real handy when your looking for information.

as for your choice of chassis and style to go with it depends on whats availiable to you, if you keep looking and continually finding 89-94 or 95-96 then maybe you should reconsider..

you said you like the 97-98 front end? what about possibly buying a 95-96 and eventually swapping that front end, or maybe another that you like more down the road?

same with the automatic, if you keep finding them then id get one for now and swap it later, but that depends on your mechanic skills. i do alot of my work so to me its easy to decide.

then buying one...well around where i live if i found a 89-93 240 with 150k on it with nothin wrong with it then im looking at 1500-2000 if not more.

i bought my 90 with shot rear struts, bald tires and junk interior, and i paid 800 which was a steal considering there's no rust.

he said he can find them no prob, so he doesnt need to sacrifice on getting a older one, but from my experiances, 97-98 s14 usualy sells for 3k-8k depending on condition of motor and shape of the body, well at least from what i'v found up here in the north (alittle harder to find thanks to the rust monster, or rarity, either or) i could be wrong, but in the end it would be cheaper just to buy a standard one and give it a new clutch etc, or even if you have the money to spend, drop a sr20 in, its cheap and is day and night speed wise, they drop right in to, since they come out of the japanese versions of ur car, otherwise just rebuild the motor. anywho this is just my 2 cents, and i could be wrong.

Imho...I would go with the automatic w/ lower miles. Doing a 5-speed swap isn't too terribly difficult.

Just throwing this out there, I remember when I was looking for a 240 to buy, I had noticed the ones that were automatics usually were clean and mostly stock...as for the manuals, they usually tended to be somewhat molested....at least from what I saw.

Yeah I have also noticed this. That it seems like the auto 240sx are more cared for. Well i guess I'm just going to have to narrow my choices 1 by 1 and try to find the best deal. I'm just worried that if I do pick up an automatic 240sx that I will have a hard time finding parts for the auto -> manual swap.

Go auto if it's in better condition. I did. Alot of koukis were autos. I got mine from jersey and shipped to ca. Mine was in awesome shape. No mods. An old couple had mine. Picked it up for 3600.
