hey nicoclubim new to the world of nicoclub and nissian... i have been sneaking around the forum for the past two weeks or so using the search button though.

im from Syr new york

i just purchased a 1990 240 sx hatchit has very little rust paid 500the guy i bought it from said the head gasket was blown... after towing it home we decide hey! lets start it anyway? guess what no blown head gasket no problems at all actuallyit does have its own little problems as a 1990 would be expected but thats what the forum is here for right?

problemss:rusty trunk(oh well)broken speedo (i think its shorted out)TMUed titleand the whole left side of the instrument panel is deadgas tank lever doesnt work...

i think thts about it

a little about mewhen i was 16 i bought an 02 ford mustang (i know) dropped to much cash on it to saylittle to say a drunk lady totaled it out...so i bought an 98 eclipse with the insurance moneyreplaced a few things and sold it for some profit.then i turned 17 and bought a 1995 3000gtdrove it half a mile and blew up the motorso i got most of my money back... i rebuilt the entire engine car from the ground up and sold itwith the money from that i purchased myself a 2000 mustang 5sp to be my daily driver and decided id save up and buy a 240sx ffor a project...now i have that 240 and am planning a SR20

im decently handy with a wrench and so is my father im about to be 18 and im sure i can find the answers on here that we cant answer ourselves.

Oh yeah my swap will have to be done before aug 10th because il be moving into my house in tampa then... so hopefully when i install the engine it will be able to drive 2500 miles

if you have anything thoughts or ? let me know

you just described my situation with my second 240. same year body style, and supposedley needed a headgasket. my radiator was shot so i sourced a gently used new one. got it and put everything back together that the guy before had started taking off, and she fired right up. starts, runs and drives just fine. so far she doesnt need a headgasket. starts up perfect everyday. got my 90 hatch for 400 bucks. mine also has the hatch rust, and a few minor issues. mainly a nasty dent in the right rear quater panel. ugh and my 5spd transmission wont go in reverse. also has the nasty brown interior wich is almost all converted to black. just need a dash and door panels, and carpet...but carpet is the least of my worries.

sorry for the rambling, just thought i would share my situation with you. as ours are identical. btw welcome and enjoy the information nico has to offer. but beware some members may chew your head off if you say the wrong thing or ask something stupid. so try and use the search button before making threads. but dont take it personal...lol. their just tired of ignorant newbs....

Sweet. Sounds like you are going to make a decent ride.

I used to have an 97 Eclipse, great car driving straight, can't turn for life of it. Uturns used to blow.

yea even the new ones...my girlfriend has the 08 sypder and damn does it suck when it comes to a Uturn or any kind of sharp turn. The turning radius on those cars just suck

From what I see in the pics, keep it, because it really looks good. Replace the lid and fix her up. Save a little more and get yourself the Sr20. 240s more hard to find nowadays.
