I have a 1996 300zx TT and the brake lights don't work it isn't the bulbs or fuses but I have had people tell me it is some switch box that controls your brake lights, from what I understand is like 1k to replace. Is there any way I can test the connections to this switch box or some how I can find if it is just a short some where, and can anyone direct me to where this switch box is located.

welcome to nico.
i had the same problem and its the tail light sensor box,its behind the driver side tail light
its a little green box.
what i did was i pulled the guts out (a circuit board) and there was a bad solder on one of the resistors(or capacitor)
i dabbed alittle solder on there and it works like a champ.
the box itself is like $70 iirc but i was poor and decided to look at it myself
hope this helps.

edit, here is a pic,its the green box on the right.(drivers side tail light)

try taking the box apart,if all the solder joints are good than try poking around with a multimeter.
hit up the brake light switch and check all the fuses, something else might have blown and it could effect the brake lights(these cars are weird like that)
that is how i found the dead box,by trying every connection related to the brakelights.
hope this helps and good luck
