Whats up Nico!?
I have been browsing this site for a while now checking out some of the D21's here. Needless to say this place is packed with awesome trucks. From pejsa to hessian's truck and of course Rev's HB!

So heres where Im at. My truck is super clean as its from the south but the mileage is up there at just over 198k. Im contemplating hitting up some drift sessions next year with it and i think the d21's ka24e needs to go.
I have a local 240 guy with a ka24e with all accessories and engine harness for $50!!!!!!!! Yea, 5-0, FIFTY! Im not concerned about the mileage as I would rebuild it before tossing it in.

So I have read other threads about comparisons between the 2 motors (s13 and d21). But it seems like there are issues when piecing the motor together to go in a d21. Heres my list of what I need to make the s13 motor work in a d21. I have yet to find a legit "Parts Needed" thread.

s13 ka24e longblock
s13 engine harness
s13 ECU
d21 oil pickup
d21 oil pan (not modified)
s13 starter
s13 flywheel and clutch
d21 motor mounts
d21 trans

What am I missing to complete this swap? I just read that there is a wire in one of the harness' that needs to get repinned for the tach to operate as it should. I really am trying to make sure all my T's are crossed here before I tear into my DD for a swap just to occasionally slide it. i really hope this can be merged with other threads if necessary and others will benefit from my uber noobness.

regards,
Cullen

Hi Cullen!

I think our S14 into S13 engine swap article MIGHT help, but before that, I gotta ask...

Why go from a dual-cam KA24DE to a SOHC (ka24e)? Seems to me you could simply rebuild your DOHC motor with the same money... we've actually got a guy here making 200whp with an n/a DOHC KA.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

Thanks dude!

Hmmm, to my understanding the D22 chassis trucks were the KA24de motors and all the 4 cylinder D21's were the KA24e...

Any thoughts on my parts list thus far though? What am I missing?

Ah, ok - my bad.

In that case, I'm at a loss - I would have thought the longblock would be identical. Odd that they were still using the SOHC motor in trucks, when the DOHC started in '91 for the 240sx.

Still, seems like if you're going to rebuild the S13 SOHC, you could just as easily build the engine that's in your truck and save yourself the $ and hassle of collecting parts.

From what I have found on other forums there are a bunch of small differences when it comes to mounting the S13 SOHC in the hardbody. Oil pan is one for sure and the starter I can remember off the top of my head. Theres a bunch of info out there I think there is more on infamous forums or the KA Turbo forums. I cant seem to find em now.
