Hello everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself to the community as I'm now the proud owner of a 1980 280ZX. :) It definitely needs some body work to take care of the rust but mechanically it's great! I would actually consider myself to be a VW guy as that's all I've ever owned (Currently driving a 2004 VW R32) but this Datsun has definitely taken a shine on me after the three hour drive home and nearly dying from the exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin! I'm going to replace the brakes this week and do general engine tune up work. Here's the only picture I have at the moment. I was definitely admiring the engine for quite some time when I get it home. :)

Hello and Welcome to NICO :wavey:
Nothing makes the heart grow fonder than sharing a few exhaust fumes. :chuckle:
Good luck with you Z!

Well I found the source of the exhaust leaking into the cabin.

Then I fixed it! At least until I acquire a welder and learn to use it.

Here are a few more snaps of my new rust bucket.

Welcome to NICO and congrats on the S130. Rust is the number one killer of these cars, mechanically they will run dang near forever. The fuel injection you will find is similar to that of the 90 era VW's. It's not the Bosch system but works the same way.

Yeah the car seems excellent mechanically; it's just all that damn rust! :frown:

I've been doing some basic work to it so my girlfriend can have a car to drive while her 240 is in the shop, so today I started the brakes. Started and can't finish...

The passenger side front caliper is toast. Awaiting a new caliper. Stuck in the service position for the night...

Your 280zx looks almost to be the same color as my 240z. Loving the mesh wheels :)
