just bought a 2000 XE 4x4 Frontier 3.3L V6 with 100k miles on it.. I'm trying to change out the headlight bulbs and I can't forthe life of me figure out how to get the ones in it out? I can get the wireing harness off but there is a metal clip holding the bulb in? (only tryed once and in the dark with a lighter, but any heads up would be great!)

Also one of the dash lights behind the heater and AC controls is out, anyone know the correct bulb for that?

lastly, is there anything i should be aware of with a truck with that many miles? At idle its a bit rough, but I had a 95 2.4L 2X a few years ago and it seems that it was the same way?

anyway, hope to get a reply or two..

thanks....

The lightbulbs have little wire clips that simply need to be popped off. I've been able to do them with my fingers and no tools. Once they're off, twist the bulb and pull and it should come right out from the back.

As for 100k maintenance, there's a list of things you should do if you know they haven't been done:

Timing BeltRadiator hoses (there's two hoses on top - get the short one too. Do a coolant flush while you'e at it.02 sensors if they've never been done.BeltsChange gear lube in the diffs and transfer case - 75 or 80W90 gear oil, GL5. Just under 2 quarts for the front diff, 2 quarts for the Tcase, and 2 3/4 quarts for the rear diff. Always remove the upper fill plugs first to ensure you can get them off before draining the oil out.Have a full fluid exchange done on the auto trans. If it's a manual, drain and refill with a quality GL4 (and I mean GL4 ONLY!) gear oil. This stuff is a little harder to find, but Napa carries it in 2qt jugs. You'll need between 5 and 6 quarts.Check all your other fliuis (brake fluid, power steering, etc.) to ensure they're not overly dirty or burned.

Timing belt is the big thing at your mileage. The recommended service interval is 105k. You don't want to lose this belt - it's catastrophic for the engine. This is a good time to do belts, hoses, coolant, and a new water pump since you have to remove all that stuff anyways.
