well i figured i would start my own thread so here i go.

I just picked up a 1972 510 4door with a KA24e swap with 5spd already done. i got it for a steal of a price but the motor has some BAD knock. so im looking for a different KA24e to put in for the upcoming driving season.

the car also has full suspension with adjustable camber plates, a subaru LSD, old school recaro seats, and some ugly (but loud) exhaust.

i plan on doing the SR swap come winter time and doing a bit of body work. should be a fun project and im looking forward to it.

here are some pics.

this is how it looked when i went to go get it. kid was suppose to get it ready for me....yeah right.

and after we got it back to our shop.

the broken KA

All thawed out

and the basic interior.

ill try to keep this updated if i make any in the near future. right now just looking for a KA24E, so if anyone has one shoot me a PM

Nice car! She may have started out buried in the snow, but she cleans up good.

how's the car look as far as rust goes.

seeing it buried in snow makes me worry it could get nasty once you start pulling carpet and poking around.

well sorry its been so long since i updated this but i kinda forgot i posted this.

anyways i did find a motor on here and it included a full length header and socketed ECU so im pretty pumped on that. its suppose to be dropped off on wednesday at our shop. ill be working on it all night wednesday and thursday to get her running before i fly back home for vacation on friday.

i should have some video and pics next week sometime after i get back.

As for rust it has some spots where it seems to be surface rust. it does have a spot that is a hole about the size of a IPOD nano that the previous owner tried cutting out and it didnt help( and looks like crap). it on the bottom of the pass. side front fender right between the door and wheel well. also he tried shaving the side markers and that was never primed and painted so its got surface rust also. i have taken all the carpet out and it looks amazingly good inside. all the factory sound deadening stuff is still in great shape and in most spots still has the factory paint sprayed on it. the carpet was hideous, so i probably will be running with no carpet.

its been on stand since i got her so of course i have been taking everything apart that i can think of and found a few surprises of the good kind

it had a fairly new exedy clutch and flywheel in the old trans and the suspension is actually and old style of tien.... dont know what kind exactly but it is green and stamped with tien. so that was a nice find. makes me feel a little better that its not some cheap knock off crap.

well anyways ill get some updates here as soon as i got some new info. hopefully on wednesday or thursday.

well got the motor in and all hooked up. she turns over and all that stuff but i had timing and firing order issues to work out. by the end of the night it flooded out and it was late so i called it a night and let it sit for a bit. so hopefully it will be ready to go tomorrow!!! im super excited!!!

got back from my vacation last night and headed right over to the shop. messed with the timing for about a half hour and she fired right up! so she is on the streets again and the only issue i have is that its running REALLY REALLY RICH!!! if i go WOT it actually floods itself out..... how do i fix that?

I installed full rear seatbelts last night and i have to say it was pretty easy. had to do a little modifying but all in all it went pretty good and looks like it could be stock. i used some belts out of a friends Camry to do them.

well after last night i offically have to say im in LOVE with my datsun!!! i just have a SOHC KA in it now and its plenty quick for me. granted i will still probably do a turbo swap(SR or CA) this winter but dang i could not see anyone going over 350hp and not crap there pants everytime the drive it

man im on such a datsun high right now!!!!

honestly ive tried finding out and had no luck. all i know is that they have nissan stamped on them..... and they are 15x6.5 or 7.

i need to have them sand blasted so i can get them powder coated gold or bronze with the little lip polished.

EDIT: they are stockers off a older 300zx-tt.

I strongly believe they are 280ZX (79-83) stock wheels aka "snowflakes"

I think a VW jazz blue would be hot and powder coat the snowflakes white.

Why go SR when you can easily turbo the KAe, no intercooler even on low boost(i like IC anyway).

i think i decided im going to do a CA18det swap..... im really not a big fan on doing NA-T kits. i feel if the motor was suppose to be turboed it would have came from the factory like that. now dont get me wrong there are some insane NA-T cars out there and they are cheap most of the time but its just a personal preference.

Yeah except you have a KA24e, which handles mild boost like a champ. ON stock bottom end, no rebuild and slightly larger injectors and fuel pump you could have a turbo Dat. Just run like 7-8 pounds on a decent size turbo and you are 250 at the wheels.

Or you could rewire for DOHC and throw in an SR and have one of those scary fast micro machines..
