I have been apart of NICO for a few years now. I currently own a 1989 240sx with a RB25DET swap. But I am looking to get rid of it in favor of a 350z. I have done some research as far as the different trims of the 350s I am just kind of looking for personal experience with the. Any kind of known issues I should be aware of as I am looking for a 03-05 350z. I know about the tire feathering issue, is there a fix for that?

Basically all I plan on doing to the car is maybe some wheels, lower it and/or exhaust work. I just want to get something fun to drive in the spring/summer time that I could take to work too and know it will get me to A to B and C. I was thinking about getting the Roadster model but I know alot of people don't care for the look of them, and to a degree myself too but I thought it would be fun to have a convertible. So anyway that a little bit of what I am looking for and I just wanted to say hello to the 350z community on here.

Not sure if there is a fix for the tire feathering issue. I personally don't have that issue, but I'd imagine getting the camber kit for front and rear would probably help if properly adjusted. 03-04 are also known for having weak/unreliable transmissions. So try to go with an 04.5 minimum if at all possible. You will be able to tell its an 04.5 because it'll have little pads on the interior part of the transmission well to rest your knee on. Or check the VIN and make sure it was made in Japan. Although thats not a great relief either as mine is an 04.5 and I had to replace the transmission at about 45k miles.

If I remember correctly 06 is the year they started having oil burning issues. So try and find an 05 lol, has the new transmission, but no oil burning.

03's and 04's are known to have rear axle clunking and alignment issues but they are both fixable. Like aris said transmission faults, namely sychros going bad, are also something to watch out for.

Thanks for the info thus far! The reason I said 03-05 was because I could probably find some stock ones for around 15k or so. I have a friend checking auto auctions around the US too, he found one 05 or 06 for dirt cheap but it had 105k miles on it haha.

Good luck in finding your 350Z! Why are you getting rid of your 240? if you don't mind me asking.

I had been thinking about it for awhile now. I just don't take enjoyment out of working on it all the time anymore. Either something is leaking or something needs to be tighten or something breaks or I found something else to add on to it. I mean I am not going to give the car away, if I get around what I am trying to get out of then I will sell it and get a Z if not then I shall keep it until it does sell one day. So who knows, we'll see what happens I suppose.

Thanks for the background story. One thing to look out in the early Zs, some models have 280hp and some come with 300hp.

I did a search at Carmax around your area: (kinda)http://www.carmax.com/enUS/sea...c7d9b

Any Z 06 and up has standard LED tail lights, HID headlights and an updated interior. The 07s have the HR motor that redlines at 7,500.

can you post pics of your 240? I know its a 350 section, should be okay

Yea, here's a few of it from last year. Haven't gotten any new pictures from this year yet.

And this is what it looked like in June of 05 when I bought it.
