Car: 70 Bronco Sport, 77 Bronco, 94 Ranger... Working on Bro's 93 J-30

Post

Hey all. Working on my brother's 93 J-30. He left the windows down in the rain. Pass side window motor crapped out and AC blower is no longer working. Window motor is fried, got a new one and now I can hook up the new one and it is running all the time. It runs with the key off and out of the ing. I think the "relay" in the door is bad. Any way to check that relay? I believe the switch is fine since it continues to run if the switch on passenger's side is removed. I have not checked the driver's switch, but I keep leaning towards the relay due to the power all the time thing. The blower motor I have not gotten a chance to look at. The dash control seems to be working. My brother said for a while the blower would work from time to time when he hit a bump. Sounds like a loose connection to me, is this a common problem with these cars? I do plan to replace the light dimmer because it blanks the dash from time to time. Any help would be great, sorry for the novel, and I can not spell well.

Electro mechanical devices tend to fail with use age [and rain water].

Common for fan motor to slow with age and it draws more and more and more current until it finally blows the speed control transistor [fan amp].

Yeah, the wet and the sparky things never seem to go well together.

Any idea how to test the relay in the door? Are any of the other relays for the other doors the same?

Where would the fan amp be located on the car? Any test writeups? All the fuses and relays are OK.

As you mentioned before , if the fan spun up when he hit a bump I would think its a connection issue .
