Hello all, just found this site and thought I would share. Came with original owners manual, owner name and address, as well as the original warranty card and a new Haynes manual.

I recently purchased this 86' 720. It's a manual 5 speed, 2 bbl Z engine, new A/C(a must in AZ!) Has a custom two toned spray can paint job. You can see the original tan color in the photos. Overall the truck is in good condition. No body damage, straight lines and runs very very well. I need to find a bumper, but will head to the pick and pull soon to find one. The cab is in good condition too: some cracks on the dash, two holes in the vinyl floor, but metal is good, and all the HVAC knobs are missing. Originally a CA car, this made it over here to AZ and the subsequent owners kept up the maintenance on it.

The only thing I plan to do on it for right now is the oil/tranny fluid change and new brake pads.

I'm new to the compact truck scene, and I like the look of the rides so far. I'm interested in keeping the stock height, but would like some insight on performance. I gather there aren't a lot of major upgrade suppliers out there, so any help would be great!

Top of the line truck. Welcone. Pics of the under hood would really be nice though. Is it your daily driver? I'm looking for the rear valance to keep the finished look.

This is going to be my daily driver. There are some things I want to replace, mainly suspension and ride issues. Just got a few quotes on new tires too.

Only reason I want to get a rear bumper are the cops are real jerks here. Being so close to Mexico, they tend to stop cars with the smallest infraction so they can ask about your legal status. Was pulled over last week because one of my two plate lights was out on my other car. Second piece of information they asked for was legal status.

the cops pull you over in Mesa? hmmm... i spend quite a bit of time there cause a lot of my family lives in Mesa and I've never even seen a cop lol!

but yeah I get you're point. I may move down there after college (if not CA) and I hope to not be driving my truck on the road at all by that point

looks like you're engine bay is very clean though! but man... i can't tell you how bad i don't miss mine looking like that!

and if you don't find a bumper let me know... my stock one is still laying around somewhere in town lol

Nice! Where did you get your air cleaner?

I see someone has a set of Escalade rims on their truck. I may look into those.

I might just go with Titan wheels since that is my other truck.

I like those "gloves".

Do the wheel wells need to be modified to fit the larger wheels?

From what ive read no. The tire sizes that you put on these wheels to fit the truck nicely are 225/35/18 or 225/40/18. I bought mine for $50 a rim from Discount Tire but wont be mounting them till next year.

I dont think those will fit cause the hole in the center that fits over the hub is too small and i think the tires are too big to fit in the wheel well .

You just posted a link on how to bore out the center, and stated the size 225/40/R18 will fit nicely as well as stated no modification to the wheel well was needed.

Am I missing something?

Nah. It's steel rims so the router won't work. Not sure about the tires. I tired some 225/50/16 on mine an they touched. Not sure if the dish in the rim pushed it out too far though.

The link you posted was for rims and tires and i was sayin those tires wont fit in the wheel well. As for the wheels yes they will fit but you have to bore the centers out and you wont be able to use the router on steel wheels.

these are the titan wheels i was more or less talking about... now the only thing is you can't (and because the power the truck makes you prolly don't want to) run the titan sized tires. Now depending on what size tire you use will depend on if you need to modify the wheel wells... i had to modify mine just a little to fit mine but that's because i'm lowered...

Ah, need to get low-profile wheels...

You could probably do a better job yourself for that price using spray cans or an actual spray gun, which can be had for as little as 15 dollars, or as much as 600 dollars or more. Check this one out...http://www.harborfreight.com/c...type=Hell, with a 15 dollar gun, it could be way less expensive than 300 dollars.

Maaco around here is doing a $199 special, but from what I hear, they do not remove trim, etc.

I was thinking of going the HF way myself.

your best bet is to go to MAACO... but what you need to do is do all the prep work your self and remove trim etc.

you can do it yourself for cheap as said above as well... the only problem with that is your first job will not be good... if you practice before hand you can do that

mine was done with my girlfriend's dad in an actual shop and professional equipment

HF = Harbor Freight... Get a gun from HF and do a "home" paint job...

At this point, it would be better than the spray can job. My truck is a "Monet". Looks good from a distance, but once you get closer, you can see the runs and overspray...
