Hey guys I have a 1994 Pearl White Q45 with 210xxx miles. The car has had some issue as of late and my dad and I garaged it. Today he had mentioned that I could have the car if I fixed it sooooo I've started to research a bit and came up with these CEL's

12=Mass Air Flow Sensor- Did that today16= TCS Signal- Have no idea what this is?????34= Knock Sensor- Just ordered one and found a thread on here how to install it.46= Secondary Throttle Sensor- Have no idea once again????51= Injector Analysis- Have no idea once again

So basically 16,46 &51 I need some information on if anyone has info on this. This is will be a project from here till summer to get fixed since my other car an 96 Acura Integra LS-Turbo has (no AC) LOL.

But please any help will be awesome.

I'll post pics of the car later Thanks in advance to all

I will list a link for to research any problems with your car. These are the factory service manuals. Learn how to use them. Now for your codes, first I would clear codes and test drive and see what returns, then diagnose them. code 16 Throttle Contol Module signal open or shortedcode 46 sec tps sensor open or shortedcode 51 fuel injector circuit malfunctionGo to ec. section and look up codes. You can look up each component for operation to understand how they work.

Thank you very much.....I figured out what parts I need and how to install them. One more question though I found a place that sells the knock sensors but as far as the Secondary Throttle Sensor, I cant seem to find anyone that sells this....alln retailer sell the throttle position sensor for a code-43 but not for code 46. Could anyone possibly insight me on where I could find this part besides the infiniti dealership.....but if this is the only place that sells it could someone point out which one it is because there are 3 or 4 to choose from.....Thanks in advance to all for the help.

Noobert- Don't buy any parts until you do some diagnosis, ohm testing, and cleaning of connectors. Your first assignment though is a weekend of in-home detention where you're to do nothing but read NICO posts for 18 hours each day.

Seriously though....Go to Q45.org for starters and spend a couple of hours reading the 30-40 tech articles relating to engine problems. Look for the article on ohm testing injectors and knock sensors (please don't buy KS until you've tested them), and cleaning the MAF, TPS, CAS, sub-CAS connectors. Pay extra attention to the MAF and CAS connector pins to make sure they're lubed with dielectric grease after cleaning and the female pins in the connector are tight. After you've ohm tested, cleaned, lubed and tightened get back to us on how she runs and what codes are left.

IMHO and judging by where you live I think you have corrosion on connectors, loose fitting connectors and possible a dying injector or two. KS has no effect on engine idle or acceleration so save your $$$ for other things for now.

Yes, he is right!! The codes are malfunctions, followed by tests to see what malfunctioned. We try to tell everybody to diagnose the problem first. Perform circuit tests to confirm a bad part, loose or dirty connection, open or shorted circuits. Nissans and infiniti's have a lot of corrosion in their connectors. Sometimes just cycling a connector will clear a code. This is why we often tell you to backprobe a connector with DVOM.Read on how a circuit is suppose to operate. Then test circuit. Confirm the malfunction. Then purchase the parts needed.

Alright sounds good guys...I wont be able to read any thing this weekend since I have papers to write for school and ect but on mon-thur I'll for sure do some more research and do testing (As soon as I know what that requires/means)........on another note why are these cars so hard to work on....

We try not to spoon feed because as the owner (we're not) you've got to learn to use the search function and read up on any topic you can think of and ask questions on what you don't understand. The diagnosis is easy stuff and is free. Buy a $10 Digital Volt Meter (DVM) and a 10 amp resistor ($2) from Radio shack and hit up a random student walking out of the Electrical Studies building at school and ask them to show you how to ohm test an electrical part.

This is easy stuff that will take 10 minutes. Start with ohm testing the fuel injectors and knock sensors at the harness connection bundle located at the passenger side end of the plenum.

Now look through the engine and electrical (EL) sections of the FSM and figure out where the connectors are that need cleaning. Reading through the Tech Help articles at Q45.org will yield the same results. The link to your Factory Service Manual (FSM) is below.

When your ready to clean connectors the pins should end up looking like the middle one in the pic so the connector will fit tightly on it's component. You'll need to buy a tube of dielectric grease and a can of electrical parts cleaner (or brake parts cleaner) for this. Bring along an old toothbrush and a few ear swabs. YOu willdefinately see improvement after the connectors are cleaned.

You're not being a bother at all. I like to tease once in a while, especially the newbs, but it's nothing personal. More of a right of passage here at NICO.

That's a nice looking Q you've got. It's hard to find a 94 tan interior with no seat tears. After looking at your engine pics I'm convinced that connector cleaning will be of great benefit. Take a few minutes away from the books today and clean up just the MAF connector (and tighten the pins) like shown in the previous pic. The MAF is between the air box and throttle body. It's easy to get to and will only take a few minutes. The results could surprise you.

BTW Your pics would be better resized.
