welcome to Z ownership, you are now automatically better than everyone who doesn't own a Z

as fro the smoke, what color is the smoke? gray smoke could mean a headgasket, black smoke means rich and blue smoke meand rings, if it's blue, try pulling each spark plug and squirting a bit of wd40 or another penetrating lubricant into each cylinder adn let it sit over night then replace the plugs and start it up and see if the smoke clears, after sitting a while the rings can get stuck in their resting postiion and a little penetrant can free them up, keep us posted and get some pics up when you can

the CHTS is known to go bad on these after so many years, they aren't too expensive but they are a pain to replace, could casue a rich condition and sloppy warm idle

that makes sense because after it warms up it bounces between 500 and 1000 rpms i was wondering wut was causing that...but i knew when i got it there was going to be some bugs to work out but ive always wanted a z so its worth it!! and thnx

when you buy an abused or neglected car it can take some time to work out all the bugs but I gotta tell you from first hand experience the Z31 is a super dependable car once the damage frm sitting and maintenance have been handled

they are all over the place, decent drivers from $500 to garagequeens qwith stupid low miles for $10K, most would fall in the $1000-$3000, condition and milage play a huge roll! the later 87.5-89's with the newer styling and OE Clutch type LSD will be closer to $4000

I own an 86 300zx, and I have no clue where the fuel lines in the engine bay go. The head gaskets had to be replaced, so a friend started slicing away at hoses and lines, without having a service manual handy. Everything is put back together, except for the fuel lines. I know that one line connects to the fpr, but I'm not sure about the other one. I could post pics to show what I'm talking about. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Thanks, but I found out where they go. A quick look in the service manual, and bam! The feed line connects directly to the fuel rail, on the left side. If you are sitting in the driver's seat, there is a spigot. And the return line connects to the fpr. Thanks though!

You could take pics of your egr valve and solenoid though. I'm not sure where all the vacuum lines plug in. Especially the line under the solenoid. If you want. :P Thanks!
