Hey people, I just got my first nissan (though i do have an infiniti as well). Anyways its a 96pathfinder that is a manual. The only problem I have with it is I live near the mountains of colorado (outside denver). The pathfinder has a little trouble going up the mountain roads at the speed limit. I was wondering what i should do to help this out. Would intake/exhaust help? Is there something else that I can do?

thx for your help

Intake and exhaust will help a little, yes. Don't expect miracles, though.

Intake, exhaust, and cams should help a bunch. The cams will make the biggest difference, but they'll be worthless if they can't breathe without a new intake and exhaust. Some magazine articles claim you could possibly get 30-40 hp from a set of cams since the stock set is so mild.

Maybe look into a supercharger. With that thin air up there, you're definitely not getting as many ponies as the rest of us.

Somewhere on here someone laid out how to give the pathy a sort of ram air effect by trimming the intake parts. Try searching for that.

Other than that, what 88path said.

Yeah it may take a miracle to make it perform better. . I have to disable overdrive to hold speed up mountains in WV / Virginia / NC / TN, and the max alt I hit is about 3500.

Welcome to NICO!

As far as cams go, there's a nice writeup on installing VG33 cams here: http://npora.ipbhost.com//inde...art=0

Oh, I just remembered.

In CO, there's a place called Alpine Developments that have a kit for a supercharger for pathfinders. The write up they did said they were able to pull 40 more ponies (i think?) with nominal reduction in gas mileage.

I'd take a look into that if you're serious about more oomph up those steep hills. Just be prepared to spend some $$$
