Hello,

Well I just bought my first 240 today! It has a the DOHC motor in it, and a turbo kit on it already. The only problem is that I dont know if I trust the motor to hold up without any tuning! Currently the only upgrades are the turbo kit itself, FMIC, FPR, 3 inch exhaust and I believe that is it... The internals are completely stock. Im not sure how well this will hold up under this setup or if I should just park it until I can get it tuned or at least do something else to it??? Its currently running 7lbs... and the car runs perfect, idles perfect, and I have only really only had the car into full boost a few times, just not sure of it yet! I just wanted to get a few people opinions of what I should do. Thanks for all your help.

If you are running an FPR then you might be safe, just retard your timing a few degrees. Do you know what ratio your FPR is? I suggest getting a wideband o2 sensor/gaueg so you can see what your air to fuel ratio is.

As far as internals go, they are fine for 7 lbs. I believe with proper tuning the internals can withstand 350 hp.

What is the rest of your setup like?

Thanks for your reply! Im not sure what the ratio is, and im going to borrow a wideband from a friend this weekend to see what the AFR ratio is... so after that maybe I can give a little more info. I know the MAF is a 95, not even sure if that makes a difference or not. The fuel pressure is set at like 82 i think??? Not 100% sure about that... Dont know what it needs to be at, I just got that car and havent touched or adjusted anything... all the charge piping is 3"... its a T3/t4 turbo... 60 trim... HKS SSQ knock off BOV... Stage 2 clutch made in Nashville at Tennessee Clutch and Supply, suppose to be good to 350hp... doesnt have lsd... not sure of the brand of wastegate, but does have a 7lb spring... there is a cat. on the exhaust right now, had to get it to pass emissions... the car smells like its running rich. I put in a new 170 degree thermostat... Stock cooling fan, would like to upgrade that! The intercooler seems to block a lot of air flow through the radiator... not sure what to do about that... and the transmission harness( if that is what it is called, running from the front by the fuse box to the transmission plugs) has been cut, and I need to find a harness for that I guess not sure what it would effect as far as it running, I just know the speedo and reverse lights dont work! Thats as much as I can think of off the top of my head, like I said I just got the car and havent learned everything about it yet... Thanks for the help.

Also running a 255 Walbro fuel pump... Just found this out!

82 psi is an awful lot, you might want to check that. It should be around 30 at idle.

Definitely check to see what kind of FPR you have. A good one is a 6:1, I recommend you get one since you don't know what your current one is. Also, definitely check your AFR with a wideband. You might not want to drive it until you can check to see how it is running. Too rich and fuel will slip past the rings and dilute your oil making it not as effective, too lean and you run the risk of blowing up your ringlands.

Sorry 82 was a typo... its at 32 at idle... sorry for the confusion. I will try to figure out the AFR and anything else that I might be missing tomorrow or this weekend. Thanks for the help.

I believe you should be around 42 psi for it to be normal.
