I'm new to NICOclub, but not new to Nissans.

My first car when I was 15 was a "Vivid Teal" green 97 200SX SE-R (auto :tisk: ), and now I am on my second Nissan. After learning the hard way not to deviate from a good thing. My Nissan I currently have is a 1990 Nissan Stanza XE with a 5 speed. I traded an S10 straight across for it and the funny thing is about a week later I saw that same S10 on fire on the side of the interstate haha. Proof enough for me that I made the smart move coming back to my roots. So far I've done more "catch up" repairs and maintenance (the previous owners believed both were optional) than modifications with a long road to go still. And all I have to say is the ECCS system on that car is a......well you get it.

Now for my whines and moans.

When I'm trying to use the search function on the KA24 forum, I get nothing. But when I scroll down, the key words I'm typing in are in other's posts. But I need it for the FWD setup KA. But again when I search something: "No search results found" (or w/e it says)

Sorry to leave an annoying post for my first one, but it's driving me nuts. I like to have search results haha.

LOL, lucky trade.

No one seems to keep or maintain Stanzas anymore, as if they're Nissan's 'lost' car. Nice to see one being cared for.

Welcome to NICO! Stanzas were nice cars back in the day. More closely related to the Maxima than the Altima was a few years later. I liked Nissan's styling a lot in that era, too...especially the sharp facia on the Stanza.

I'm not sure what's up with Search right now, but we're looking into it.

In the meantime, you can always point an advanced google search at forums.nicoclub.com as a temporary solution. http://www.google.com/advanced_search

Jesda, that moment when I saw that I have never had a more confident feeling in my victory haha. And that car is my baby, even though I seem to be having a problem with Acura TSX's trying to rear-end me. I had owned the car one day, and I was in traffic and little did I know it, my slave cylinder was leaking, so when I went to leave the light, she shuddered and the lady in the TSX just "mashed on it" and rear ended me. And from then on out it's if a curse has been on me haha.

MinisterofDOOM, I have always loved the styling of the Stanza's, or any 1990's era Nissan's for that matter (especially the interiors). And if I remember right from all of my reading and part number cross referencing a few of the rear suspension components on the Stanza are matches with the Maxima of that time period. The rear strut "cartridge" being one of the bigger ones. Oh, and by the way, I've always like the Lincoln LS8, don't ask me why, but I always thought they were a better choice than a Lexus or Acura in the Luxury car market. Did those have the 4.6 in them? or was it the 5.4? I can't remember.......

Totally missed this reply somehow.

The LS8 actually has a 3.9 liter V8 in it that's based on a Jaguar's 4 liter (but significantly revised by Ford). A few people have crammed 4.6s under the hood, but I have no idea what magic they used to do it--the 3.9 is TEENY (dimensionally, not just displacement-wise) and still barely fits in the car.

Wow, see I've always been under the impression that it was at least the 4.6L. I learned something today. And, I know Jag's are great and all, but I think Ford made the wise decision to re-design that engine. Now that you mention the lack of engine bay space, that makes me wonder if they re-designed it for better fit, reliability, and ease of aftermarket repair parts availability? (Seeing as how it would be assumed its a domestically made vehicle)

I'm sure parts availability and repair cost were big factors. Most of the redesign was devoted to the top-end, meaning it uses common and (relatively) cheap Ford ignition coils and spark plugs which are shared with other Fords. The late-model T-bird uses the same engine as well.
As far as fit, the car's basically the same thing as the S-type, which uses the 4 liter (and which is probably the real reason Ford didn't put a DOHC 4.6 in it). Both cars' engine bays are crammed pretty tight, with headers that BARELY clear the wheel wells and no room under the hood for the battery.

My brother had a Stanza. I liked that car. He beat the hell out of it and didn't take care of though, kinda made me sad. It was a beautiful Pearl White color.

Mine's that dark blue they came in; there's a white one and a gold one where I live (both stock, but well maintained). One has the factory wheels I really like on it, but I don't think the owner speaks English, or else I would shoot him an offer. I need to get new DD wheels, snow tire wheels (because the AR DOT can't figure out how to deal with snow/ice) will be the factory 14" steelies that are on it, and hopefully one day when I can get a real job get some tasteful race-day wheels.
