Post

Hi everyone, I've been reading Nico forums and posts for a very long time and decided to join after i got my 93 convertible. It's completely stock at the moment but my first mod will probably be a 5 speed conversion after servicing all the old/bad parts on it.

I do have a problem though, I just put an aftermarket radio in the car and something happened and now the lights that would usually come on when the switch is on the first position now won't come on at all (parking lights, A/T light panel/dash board lights/A/C panel lights) I read the post about the TCU but nothing was stated about the parking lights, so I considered it was a different problem.

-Thanks

oh and I know how cranky yall get without pics so ill link one pic, my regular camera is being charged so this is a phone picture.

Haha!!! I like this guy already!

I don't have an answer on the wiring issue (I'll leave that for the experts), but allow me to welcome you aboard and let us know if we can help at all!!!

Welcome to NICO! And more importantly, welcome to the vert' forums!

As for the wiring issue, did you pop the headunit back out and make sure everything is still connected behind it? Maybe a wire came loose when the heaunit was installed?

Hey yall, thanks for the replies and the welcomes! Hm I'm not really sure what a Canadian DRl is, but if your talking about the lights yes, the previous owned did mention that they were from Canada or something, I like them alot, and they fit in the holes real well.

To Ka-Te, the wiring looks fine from what i can see (can't really count on my knowledge though) I'm going to get it checked out by a very electrically inclined friend of mine, hopefully nothing seriously wrong, but do yall think it could be the light switch from the steering wheel? Or should i just not even worry about that.

First things first, you know this has something to do w/ the headunit install... so remove the headunit already!

Really tho, remove the head unit, then replace any burnt fuses in your kick panel, and see if things go back on.

Check all your taillight/sidemarker bulbs for being burnt.

Check the little light bulb in the dimmer switch.

Report back.

If things stay on after the headunit was removed, it is most likely that whoever installed it did connected the dimmer wire to the wrong "other" wire, haha.

and welcome aboard.

Yup! It sounds like you have Canadian DRLs(Daytime Running Lights). A pair is about $140. I'd like to see some pics of front. I always thought they will look weird on white 240s. They look good on 240s with dark color.

Ehh... I knew someone was gonna say something about the sleepy eyes thing lol , but thanks for saying it looks nice! I did what you suggested, pulled the head unit out, covered up all the wires, and checked the fuses inside the car, and it worked. Thanks for the info

Hey ImpulseVert,Welcome to NICO from a fellow Charlestonian and Vert owner. I'll have to keep an eye out for ya. You'll be about the 4th Vert in the Charleston area. There is another white one (including yours that's 3 whites and 1 red). There was a 94 white one in the area that had a factory "gold" package, but not sure they are still around (older couple that were orginal owners). Good to see another Vert around.
