Whats up guys I have a 1989 Nissan 240 SX with a 91 front end with only 60000 miles. Old lady used to drive it, cousin bought it and then boom crashed the front end on the first time doing a drift (what a ricer LOL) and sold it to me for $800. Bought a new front bumper, got a hood and a fender and banged the radiator support. Well basically im looking forward to doing a SR20DET swap soon but I first want all my body work and current engine fixed. First problem is that once warmed up and at idle and any stop the engine comes down to perfect idle at 750 RPMs. After a couple of seconds it drops to like 300-500 RPM wanting to die. And then suddenly it will die. It doesnt always die sometimes it just fluctuates and then I drive off. Dont get me wrong the car drives awesome! My second problem is once in 5th gear cruising at 65-70 at partial throttle still accelerating there is a thump kind of like a rev limit bounce but doesnt do it again. It can do it a couple times on each trip on the highway. This barely ever happened when i first bought the car. It now has 63k and runs like a champ. Finanlly around 85-90 MPH the car shakes, im guessing the tires need balancing and I need an alignment since my steering wheel is crooked towards the left a little bit. So any suggestions to those problems?

First of all thats pretty sad about your cousin, so many kids do the exact same thing however so its not really a surprise.

It sounds like your IACV valve could be clogged. Get a FSM for your car and run it through the diagnostic procedure.

I have no idea what that thump could be your talking about.

The high speed shake is kinda scary IMO, it could be anything. Its really only scary because you have a front wrecked car. Do what you said, get the tires balanced and it aligned, tell the tech about your problem. He might keep his eyes a little more open when hes aligning it, and might find something bent.

Goodluck with your car, and WELCOME TO NICO
