Helloww, I can't say I'm crazy adept with car stuff, but i'm also not completely ignorant; but a few months ago I picked up a new 08 SpecV that has been sitting in the Nissan lot for a while and I have to say I love it.

It was the only SpecV that I could find anywhere near where I am, so I decided to take it. Course I wish that I could have been able to get a few more options on it but since I was doing the cash-for-clunkers program, I had to to hurry up with what I wanted to buy in my price range.

I really want to put some sort of stereo system in it since I didn't have the option to add the Fosgate system (and I hear it isn't really anything that great anyways), but for now, I'm having the most frustrating time with my current stock system.

Speed sense... what the hell is it? Well obviously it does stuff with the volume of my car, and plenty of cars have them. But when I turn my speed sense off, it still happens. My volume sparatically goes waaayy down, especially when heavy bass kicks in.

I even took my car back to the dealership and they replaced my whole radio system; but the problem still occurs.

I've searched around this forum and other Nissan forums but I only saw one other person who had this problem and apparently it was fixed at the dealership.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Is it the radio? If I were to get a system someday, will I have to worry about a loud, expensive system still being affected by it?

Thanks a lot for anybody's help, and I hope I can get this cool little car rollin smooth sometime soon!

Car is still under warranty, keep taking it back till it's fixed!!

Did the dealer just change the radio only or did they replace the speakers as well?

Unless the issue is related to the speakers I don't think an aftermarket radio will show the same symptoms.

yeah, i suppose i should probably just take it in again. who knows, maybe the yahoos that work there just told me they replaced it, and actually didn't

but i don't think it could be the speakers, even if it was the speakers, i don't imagine all of them turning way down at the same time. if it was the speakers, it would make much more sense if only one of them was messed up. know what i'm saying?

also, and i'm not completely sure, but it also seems like the quality of the audio file affects it too. say, a 320kb quality song makes the volume turn from level 25 all the way down to about 15. but a song at 192kb quality, the speed sense doesn't seem to make it turn down, even if it's a much louder and grungier song

i could be wrong of course, but thanks for the advice anyway!

Yes I agree - if all the speakers are losing volume then it's most likely coming from the head unit. Tell them to replace it. It's very weird about the quality of the song affecting the volume too???

One more thing, does it do it when you're playing the radio also or just CDs?

it does it with everything, and yes, the music quality thing is pretty weird

i listen to a lot of drum & bass/jungle stuff, and songs that are at 192 kb play pretty decently, but a 320 song turns WAY low

radio music quality isn't anything spectacular, so that usually doesn't affect the speed sense

i mostly just notice it with cd and auxillary (ipod)

and it is really weird. i'm seriously curious if they even switched out my head unit or maybe they just said they did and really didn't do anything

Why not find out what dealership he took it to and ask them what they did?
