Hey guys, first off I wanna say my name is Nick and I love this forum, pretty good stuff here. I Recently picked up an 85 300zx NA 2+2 for free :D from my Mother-in-law. But it was sitting at a mechanic shop for some time, and they said that it had some electrical problem (research says digital dash problem) so now its in my hands i was wondering if this is a common problem and how can iit be fixed. And some kids with BB guns shot out my rear window and driver side rear qurater window, Besides glass what exactly would i need to replace the glass? Such as sealant or weather stripping? Not really sure cause i never worked with glass.
Any info is appreciated and I thank you for any help.

Nick.

the digital dash issue is a common one, usually related to the power supply, I think someone posted the how to here a while back, just do a search

the quarter glass is actually pretty easy to replace, you can use window urethane but if you do it's never coming out again, I'm guessing the parts store will have some other choices, if not silicone should do the trick

the ribbon sealer is similar to what the factory used, the urethane is what they used on the windshield, if you use it the flass would have to be cut out

So I would just need the ribbon sealer? I was looking at the car and it looks like they used the urethane stuff? I need to do the driver side rear quarter and the rear hatch. But I dont wanna mess it up. And I want the glass to stick there I'm not gonna cut it out, once its in im leaving it.

the urethane gets rock hard, it's not what the factory used, the ribbon sealer stays soft, that's what the factory used, you can use the urethane but one you do the glass won't come out without being cut out

Ok, And do you know how to get the trim off the bottom of the rear glass? I was able to get the rest of it off by taking off the screws but the bottom wouldnt come off. Does it double as a setting block or is it just stuck to the glass?

I havent bothered trying to remove the trim, I'm assuming you'll get your replacement piecefro a scrapyard and it will have the trim already installed, keep in mind the turbo's trim is completely black, which is why OI swapped my quarter glass, all my trim is fomr the turbo donor wiht the exception of the bottom trim on the hatch glass, which is bonded in, you might have teh same issue, in my case I painted that piece black
