I picked this treasure up last weekend (sat june 28th)

zerothread/268730

Also got to meet another nico member (the seller obviously) and was a very pleasant experience overall.

My fiance and I left Milan (south of Ann Arbor, MI about 15 miles) at 5:30A.M., arrived at Ed's home near Richmond at about 4:30 P.M. (I paced myself and we hit some traffic on 95 leaving the D.C. area, for a while), got back on the road at about 630 P.M. and arrived home at 630 A.M. sunday morning ( we stopped a lot and slept for about an hour in the vehicles at a rest area, very long day.)

I have to say that these pictures dont do this car justice. It has been excetpionally well taken care of and will continue to be. The interior is immaculate, the exterior has minimal issues that are totally liveable, and mechanically drives and handles like a new car. Its a T model with super HICAS, which is something that is quite odd at first, but rather cool once you know and expect it.

My expectations have been far surpassed by the car and the whole experience, reaffirming my faith in my fellow NICO brothers and sisters and their love and knowledge of our hamburger brand vehicles.

As far as changes, the only things that I'll likely do is add my subwoofer (Im a car audio installer and would be rather hyprcritical to not have something aftermarket right...), fix the small rust area, and Id like to add some larger wheels, like some track 350z 18's or something to that effect; not too large and crazy, just to loose some sidewall (factory 235/60/15 on the infiniti bbs 15's) and maybe lower it a little (eibachs of epsilier from the group buy). I have some other ideas, but Im going to do some photo editing to see how itll turn out, I am very hesitant to do anything as I absloutely love this car and would not want to risk changing it for worse.

But we will see. Saturday my fiance and I are detailing our cars so Ill post some pics up then (it looks the same in the pics in the link as it does now, but w/e Ill put some up anyhow.)

So Im happy to say that I am now the proud owner of a silver 1994 Infiniti Q45t. WOOO!!!

Congrats, momo!

It's great to see a NICO-maintained car go to another NICO member!

I'm sure it's in good hands.

Thanks for that!

I see you have a 66 tbird, my dad also has a 66 tbird, hardtop black with black tuck and roll vinyl interior. I think his has about 70iss k miles.

Its nice to finally get into a reliable and comfortable vehicle. Its been quite a difference going from an uncomfortable unreliable underpowered s13 to a comfortable, reliable and wholly powerful Q.

It makes me not want to ever drive anything else. I think I might be spoiled now.....

Good to hear it is still in the family. I hope the corrosion is due to salted roads. Glad you will repair it.

Ed had told me that the corrosion was from a buildup of moist soil between the wheelwell liner and the chassis, in the front of the rear wheels. its really only just some filaform corrosion (buildup of moisture under the paint, bubbles) that should be easily fixable.

Fortunately, the most of it is on the rockers and I have come up with a simple and effectivce solution; I am considering using some impact resistant sealer/paint similar to the type of material that they use to line pickup truck beds. This is much smoother, but still textured slightly. There are a few manufacturers that use it today on the lower painted areas of vehicles, such as the rocker panels.

At any rate, I am thinking of painting it (the affected areas) black as they are on a line that follows around the car (its about 3 1/2 inches up from the bottom) which is basically both rockers, the lowest most portion of the front facia and rear facia. I am going to generate a digital rendering of it to see how it would look. maybe just a little accent.

Also, does anyone know which vehicles the q shares differentials with? I have a diff which to my understanding is a r230 from a z32, NA i believe (it has the 5 bolt output flanges, got it to use on a different s13 project and never used it). This diff is a 4.08 (i actually did a visual count) and thats one of the gears that came on that car, a 3.55 i believe as well. Anyhoo, if it is the same (they look very similar) then i might consider doing the swap. Would be a free and effective way for a little acceleration, or at least a spare diff.

Plenty of posts on the R230 swap. Really doesn't do much other than a little more punch at lower speeds. Fuel economy penalty may not be worth it. Your choice.

The big challenge with a diff swap is the output shafts (6 paired bolts, versus, 5 bolts or 6 evenly spaced bolts ... or something like that) Then, if the car has TCS, there's more possible issues. It's a fun mod, but ultimately not a huge difference maker, if the car is running "up to snuff" already.

IIRC, this car has a black interior, if so I may have a few spare parts (from over the years) if your interested.

I was mostly just curious about the swap, being that I do roughly 100 miles a day for my round trip commute (home-work-school-home) I would much rather have the mileage. I had heard a few raving about the gains, but I suspected it would not really be worth it.

Oh well, at least i have a spare in case the unthinkable were to happen.

As for the interior parts, the funny and wonderful thing is, there isnt a single thing in the interior that needs replacing, at all. The only thing Id like to replace is the drivers rear window motor assembly as it is no longer functional (previous owner took it out, was trashed) so that the window will work. Not really a necessity, but since there are so few things wrong with it, I suppose I can be nit picky with things like that.
