strange knock from timing or cyl 1

I have a 97 d21 4x4 pickup with the ka24e SOHC head and there is a mysterious knock coming from either the timing set or cyl 1. it is quiet at idle then knocks when the rpms reach approximately 2000

rpm. could this be lash adjusters going bad in one cyl only or should i replace the timing set? also if this topic has been covered i apologize for clogging up the forum.

I have the same issue with my 2k altima ka24de. Had the car since 04, its got 128k, runs fine until I come to a stop, then sounds like it getting no oil....Same area,
timming chain side....Did you get any responses yet?
