Hi there.

After trolling this site for awhile and talking about getting an M45, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday on a 2007 M45 with the non-surround Bose system.

Below is what I want to do. Your input and feedback is appreciated:

1. Replace the front factory speakers with DLS UP6 component speakers (already have)
2. Add a JL Audio 500/5 amp (already have)
3. Replace the factory sub with something like an Infinity 100.9W 10 incher
4. Use the Bose amp to power the center speakers and rear door speakers
5. Use the JL Audio amp to drive the DLS speakers and the sub

Does this all sound doable so far?

Dynamat/Fatmat/Whatever will certainly be a part of the process.

Has anyone installed (and hidden) a gigantic amp like the JL Audio 500/5 in an M? Is the spare tire well the only option?

My goal is to have a COMPLETELY stealth system. No sub box, no amp mounted in the trunk... I am not opposed to ditching the spare tire.

Again, your direction and input is encouraged here. Thanks in advance!

why not use 4ch for the front and rear door speakers and 1ch for the sub.

They're rear door speakers... There's no real need for them. They're just kinda there, and I don't want to chance that the JL amp would blow out the factory speakers requiring me to replace them.

Thanks, Bravoval. I am always a fan of saving money!

But to be clear, I already have the DLS UP6 component speakers and JL Audio 500/5 amp.

I think I just need a line output controller (~ $80) and a sub (< $200).

Reading several threads on here, I think I may have to use a small box (which I also already have) since going free air likely will not give me the best of quality.
