Hello all! First post here, and I'm really excited. I've been lurking for the last few months that I've had the Q45. Now I need some sage advice;

So yesterday I purchased a fantastic M35x from one of the fellow members here on the board! He had placed low-pro tires on her with the intention of dropping it. I didn't care about that at all, thinking I'll use them as summer tires. Well, one drive into the city tonight, and It's very clear I'm going to be heading to the tire shop today to put standard size rubber on my M. I'll most definitely end up doing some rim damage if I don't...

Here's my question. I've owned MANY a Nissan product in my day. This is my Fourth infiniti. I learned to detest Contipro Contacts from when I had my Nissans. I had Goodyear Comfortred Tourings put on my I35, and they actually seemed to be the best tire I've ever owned. I loved the Pirelli's on my Audi too, until they prematurely wore out, and in 19" it was too much of a hassle seeing as hardly anyone offers treadwear warranty in the bigger wider sizes.

I'm looking for some good suggestions on what ALL SEASON (In Chicago here so snow, rain, and dry hot pavement are all factors) tires you guys have been running on your M's that you're in love with. Or on the flip-side of that, what tires should I absolutely stay away from. I'm inclined to get the ComforTreds again, but not if I can't find them cheaper than $220 a tire. They're fantastic, but I really wan to try and stay in the $150/tire or less range.

Also, I see that the 06 has the bad Takata Airbags, but they're only being recalled in Florida, Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands etc?! Anyone have luck getting Infiniti to swap yours out? Humidity is the issue with the recall, and if you've ever lived in Illinois or Texas during the Summer, we should definitely be on that list too.

Thanks guys!

Continental ExtremeContact DWS or Michelin Primacy MXM4's. I ran both of those (1 set of the MXM4's and on my 4th set of DWS's across two cars) up in Upstate, NY (similar winters to you) and with the AWD, had little issue when driving like an adult lol. I currently have DWS's on my car but will be swapping them out for some other tires on my new 20" wheels and then getting dedicated snows for the current 19's.

Not sure about the airbags though.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Put Michelin Pilot Sport AS on my 09 couple months ago, seems to be fine by me, but I'm not very aggressive driver.

I have Conti ExtremeContact DWS' on my M35X and their a great all around performance tire. Many M35X owners that post have DWS' on their cars.

I don't know of any good tires for $150 each. Most of the better brands are closer to 200 or more for each tire.

Just bought 4 Cooper CS4 from Pep Boys ($775 with tire insurance installed). I have about 7,000 miles on them and they are extremely quite and seem no different from my other tires in all seasons.

I'm very pleased with them. You don't need high performance tires for every day driving - its a waste of money.

Thanks for all the input guys! It has been a nightmare for the last week straight. I ended up putting the Comfortred Tourings on the car after all. Which at 1073 out the door, was more than I wanted to pay, but I wanted to see if they would help with some of the stiffness in the car. Wet performance is incredible, and they're as quiet as I remember. HOWEVER, in the process, I've discovered two bent rims from the damned low-pros, as well as 3/4 wheels are missing lugs due to stripped spindels/studs/whatever they're called. Infiniti pointed out to me that this is common when people put aftermarket rims on their M's, because they don't generally fit right, and tend to end up stripping the threads.

1) Ticked that the tire shop didn't tell me about this when they put my new tires on. Especially because I brought it back twice for thumping sounds. 2) It has factory rims back on from when I bought it, but has anyone heard of this problem? Is it really something common on the M's with aftermarket rims?

As for the main topic; I had Pirelli's on my Audi, which I loved, until you realize they need to be replaced far more often than they should be, with no treadlife warranty. Which lead me to Cooper RS3-A's (similar to what bluedevil said) that I have on there now. Love Cooper tires, except even with Quattro and brand new ones, I had a wicked close call a few weeks back on the wet highway. The rear end totally slid out from under me while doing a reasonable 45 not pushing on it. I just don't seem to find the wet traction confidence in them that everyone raves about. If they can force an A8 sideways under normal, wet driving conditions, I wasn't too sure they would handle any better on the M. I can still return these ACT's, so if I'm not happy when I get the car back, I might try those CS4's or the DWS. I really appreciate all the feedback guys, Thank you!
