I just picked up a 2001 Frontier "Desert Runner" SC to compliment my 3rd gen Maxima.

I am looking at a new intake. Which is better K&N or Nismo? Both are not true CAI's. The K&N looks to be a shorter ram than the Nismo, but the Nismo would definitely be a true bolt on.

Also what exhausts are worth looking at? I want better performance and a little more grunt but not a lot of noise. I am not looking to make a beast out of the truck, just to improve the performance a little.

nice truck more pics! No offence, but your maxima is kinda on the ricey side. IMO, sell the spoiler and loose the graphics. Other wise its clean as your truck

I like the graphics, inspired by the old BRE team.

Calmini makes a bolt on catback system that would fit.

Thanks Reverend D. You are the first person to notice where my inspiration came from for the graphics. I love the old BRE 510's.

That is what I said when the SC'd Frontiers came out...someday.

Any other advice on exhaust options/opinions?

What about intake? Does anyone have the Nismo, K&N, or AEM?

Very nice!

Now it's time to swap the intake setup from the Frontier onto the Maxima and toss on an 8 lb pulley!

With exhaust I'd recommend just getting a muffler (& maybe a high flow cat) and having a shop fill in the rest of it.

I had a k&n on my 4cyl 01 frontier. I didn't put one on my new one b/c I've since heard bad things about the oil potentially clogging up the MAF. Therefore I'd recommend a dry filter setup for the intake.
