Just bought a 1999 Infiniti I30 for my daughter. Car has 87,000 miles on clock. The car had no maintenance records as far as any ordinary things that were done, like brakes, when the battery was replaced, etc. Fluids are all clean and fresh, new air filter.

I plan on changing out brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and get the auto transmission flushed. Plugs can wait till 100K.

Is there anything not listed in the owners manual from all the owners on the forum?

I'd change the plugs now. I would buy NGK Platinum or Iridium plugs. When you change out the fluids, I'd switch to all synthetics: Mobil 1 oil for the crankcase and Mobil 1 ATF for your transmission. Synthetic power steering fluid. Synthetic brake fluid.

Get your radiator flushed and add 50/50 mix of Prestone anti-freeze.

Check the condition of all your belts. Make sure that they are flexible, are not brittle or cracked.

Check your tires to see if you got a good Brand and Model.

Check your brake pads and rotors.

BTW, you and your daughter are now the proud owners of an I30t -- the "T" is for "Touring" and you get a lot of goodies that we normal I30 owners do not have, like a limited slip differential, traction control, sport-tuned suspension, 16" wheels, etc.

Also, 87K is actually low for a car like yours. These cars can go 200K without breaking a sweat.

Treat it right and it will treat you right.

I just picked up a similar 1999 I30 Limited and appreciate your tips. I didn't have any maint records either so I was thinking about a full tune up. BTW I bought my car for my daughter too but it turned out to be too nice for her so I think I'll keep it. Father's perogotive, right?
