This is all for a highish mile car, for highway driving, and safety with my Son.
Got a total loss on an 2011 alty coupe and bought a high mile 09 Maxima SV (114k, no options). Looking for longevity tips.
Gremlim 1: front suspension has a constantly reproducable creak and metallic tick sound. Slow or fast, rubber+water and metallic click. Usual replace struts, (new tower mounts) or stabilizer busch?
Gremlin 2: body roll on the highway is scary. Hard turns at speed seem to elastic, dangerously curling the car on corners so the unibody acts like a spring, causing me to steer the car out of the effect and slowing down. sway bars? Cv? F/R stabilizer bars?
Gremlin 3: general maintenance. Dumped 5 quarts of cvt, black as dirt. Put in $100 (5qt, really 4.25qt) of Nissan ns2. Feels smoother. Order 15qt ns2 and do a full or not? After a long drive it is oddly sluggish while hot. Much more on hot days. Engine cvt or both? Havent heard radiators ticking since 90s mustangs but they do. Any way to know if I even got the cvt cooler?
Gremlin 4: put full new continental contact extreme dws06 with new premium rotor/brake pad top compound" but TPMS is not happy at 33psi. Higher psi shuts off tpms. I feel this is a cheap +mpg and tpms hack. I'd like it correct. 36psi, no tpms. Door jams say 33psi. Tpms on at all times.
Gremlin 5: heard the stock sv on youtube, very loud and impressive. Mine sounds quiet and poised. Engine weak? Recommended upgrades?
Put continental ContactExtreme DWS06 on there which smoothed it. I am really looking for torque when needed but #1, a decent car with 80-90mph standard highway comfort. I drive 360mi a weekend picking up and dropping off my lil 9y/o boy 52 weeks a year. Please help me sort this car! My biggest concern is the driven to dead near 115k cvt.
I have things like laser-Iridium (?) NGK plugs but taking the car upper intake off to do them seems crazy. Is it? Else?
